Hoover used to the MAX!

I have done an extreme torture test with my Hoover Windtunnel 2 Rewind Pet.

For about three weeks, I did not empty the canister and let it fill up PAST THE MAX LINE. Even with all that dust and debris in the canister, the machine did NOT lose ANY suction whatsoever!

I am not the biggest Hoover fan, but this is very impressive! See for yourself in the pictures below.

Did any dirt go to the primary filter? I wouldn't fill the dirt container past the MAX line!

Gottahaveahoove, I also wouldn't do this very often. It was a fun little test to see how it would perform with an overfilled canister. Not only did it not lose suction, but the system check indicator on top of the canister was still all the way green, despite the fact that the shroud was almost completely blocked.

Floor-a-matic, quite a bit of dirt went to the primary filter, due to the inefficient dual-cyclonic system. I will be emptying it after every use from now on.

Constellation86, the "rock formation" consists of pet hair from my 2 dogs and a cat. There is also kitty litter and debris from my garage in there.

Below is a pic of the primary filter. There is also a pic of the inner cyclone, showing some tangled hair inside. I also found some grit around the part where the filter rests.

i used to do this all the time with my old dc39 as it had quite a small bin capacity and use to fill up quite quickly so i use to fill it until it got to the top and it never lost suction and the filter never got dirty

Hoover's terrible design.

Hoover dual cyclonic models have a terrible shroud design. Unlike the Dyson, which they copied, the shroud holes draw the air UP. As the bin fills, much fluff and lint and hair, which the shroud was designed to separate on the Dyson design, is drawn into the high efficiency cyclone. Hoover tried to copy the DC04's high efficiency cyclone, but they made a mistake there too. A cap at the end of the funnel catches the lint (that should not be there but for the inefficient shroud) and almost seals off the funnel. The funnel is designed to put the fine dust into the fine dust collector, but cannot when it's blocked. All the dirt is passed to the pre-motor filter.

Multi cyclonic Hoover designs, which were copied from later Dyson models like DC14, do not have that problem. Even the shroud on the multi-cyclonic models have been redesigned to give good efficiency.

The Air Pro SH40075 canister has improved better than the SH40070 WT Air canister in terms of air/dirt seperation. Not even a strand of hair or bit of dust made it to the primary filter

You are absolutely correct. Lots of vacuum manufacturers have misleading claims. Dyson has pointed out these claims in the marketing of Dyson Cinetic Science. Lots of machines claim to never lose suction, but the reality is, inefficient cyclones allow dirt and fluff to pass right through. This clogs the filter and the vacuum WILL lose suction.

James Dyson invented cyclonic technology 20 years ago. And since that time, Dyson has improved upon it and recently introduced a vacuum that truly never loses suction. Plus, there are no filters to maintain!

Below are some pics of the Hoover's canister taken apart. I tried to make an exploded view in the first pic. I also show the oddly shaped inner cyclone funnel.

Dyson has advertised "No loss of suction" for 20 years now. Every time a new model comes out, Mr. Dyson says it Has No Loss in Suction. So isn't that what he said about last years machine? Doesn't that mean he's been lying all this time? What about next year? Is he going to continue the lie in order to sell more machines?

Yes you are correct Stan. But what I will say is the cyclones are very efficient so the filters stay clean for a very long time I find.

But of course after a period of time they will need washing to keep suction at it's maximum.

I am amazed at the difference in the cyclone technology on similar multi cyclonic hoovers

These two of mine are both multi cyclonic but the USA version on the right has been used for a few weeks since getting it and still the filter is clean. The SA model on the other hand ( moere in common with a Vax ) filter has hair and debris on it after just one vacuum

I know people with Dusons who never wash their filters for like 7 years! They dint wash filters
