Hoover The One Pet - Agitator Motor?

Hi today from the Car Boot I bought a Hoover 'The One' Pet (Model H1.PET) made on the 44th week of 2005. It has the dual motor action but that has appeared to be broken because the switch dosen't work. I can get the genuine motor for £13 but would I be able to fix it & if so how? (I mean the motor that turns the brushroll off when set in Hard Floor mode not the main motor)

I'd imagine you'd need to open the base up and test the switches before condemning the motor. I gather on these the user switch is the long bar on the top of the hood. Its very possible it may have another switch on the upright lock mechanism that shuts the motor off when the vac is stood upright. Both these microswitches must be fully operational for the brushroll motor to work.

Yes, it's the long bar on top that you press & the lights come on. So I would need to open it up & how do I test the switches? With a multimeter?

Well if you press it and the lights come on then the main bar switch must be working.


Does the light in the bar come on when the hoover is reclined, and go off when its upright?


If so, then its more than likely the motor, and you will need to check that the motor is receiving power, for which you will need a multimeter, initially set on 500V AC, and put the probes on each terminal on the motor with the unit reclined and switched on.


You will be testing the voltage across the motor's terminals, so always assume its 240V Ac being supplied to the motor and be careful.


If the motor Is receiving the voltage, then the motor is faulty. If there is no voltage to the motor then the supply is faulty and you will have to determine why - it could be the driver PCB.


Either way, I'd test the motor is getting a voltage first.

When I switch it on & recline it it is set to hard floor mode, the light comes on & the brush dosen't rotate. Press it & it should go to carpet mode, but it dosen't & continues to stay on hard floor. It does go off when in the upright position yes. But the brush won't spin.

Well, Hilo - I think you will have to open the hood and find out why the switch bar is not changing mode. Without having owned one of these, and with no pictures to go on, I don't know what else to say. I don't think anyone else here has one of these either. I know Roger did, but I think he sold it, and I'm sure in his video he said his switch was playing up too:
