hoover clean and light

yeah i have seen that before aswell i was just amazed they already used the t series as a new commercial machine. I wonder if its part of a new line or these are to make up for them discontinuing the Elites.

Rubbermaid FG9VUL120000 12" Ultra Light

Looks like this the same vac. It's has also been sold as the Hoover Signature (gray with black bag), & as the, Royal MRY6400 (various colors orange & gray blue & gray etc.).

I own & like this vac & the one i have is maroon colored with gray bag & called the Hoover Clean & Light (model U4707-900).

For my money the stand out in this class of vacuum (8lbs), which it seems Oreck invented & dominates, is actually the Riccar SupraLite or Simplicty Freedom. I just found one on Craigslist & hope to have it home by this evening.

What is the Hoover Clean and Light compared to an oreck? Are they better at deep cleaning, better brushroll etc. Im just curious how they are compared to an oreck. Ive been thinking about getting one. Are they easy to maneuver? I clean houses and some have excessive furniture and my Oreck is finally wearing down.

Hoover vs Oreck

The problem is i have the Hoover Clean & light (i bought new) in our apartment in Manhattan & the Oreck XL21 (which was very used before a massive cleaning & new belt/brushroll) is in San Diego at my mothers house. On top of that the carpets are so different in each of the respective locations. That having been said that are very similar, with the Oreck probably being a little better. Remember this is the more powerful, more beefed up Oreck, not the entry level Oreck they sell for $99 at Biglots. That basic original design Oreck would be inferior to the Hoover as it has a much smaller diameter dirt path to the bag & far weaker motor.

What i don't like about the Oreck & Hoover...

They are prone to leakage at the seals in the dirt path. The handle of these 8lb vacuums is also the fill tube for the bag. Both Oreck & Hoover have 'O' rings joints in the metal tubes that comprise the handle & these leak on each of my machines. The Riccar/Simplicity is a vastly better design in this area & has no leaks & feels much sturdier.

Great prices...

See link for great pricing on the Hoover Signature $106 or the Rubbermaid variation for $86.
From the linked website which compares the two:

"Try the Rubbermaid FG9VUL 120000 12” ultra light upright vacuum cleaner instead! This vacuum weighs only 10 lb. and includes a 40’ power cord, giving you the same excellent maneuverability for a lower price tag. It requires no tools for assembly and works well for both hard and soft floor surfaces, too!"

@strictlybojack

thanks for the link! I appreciate that and i will look into it. I really want to replace the oreck with something about the same and the Rubbermaid one is the one i will probably go for. No matter what any vacuum will have its drawbacks, but i do feel the rubbermaid model will serve me well in the long run. Thanks again:)
