Hoover Steam-Vac Dual V Opinions

My Hoover steam-vac is on the fritz and is showing it's age and I am wanting to replace it. A couple stores around the area have a couple models of the Hoover Steam-Vac Dual V and I was wondering if anyone has some honest opinions about them. ie- noise level, durability over the years, and ease of use. I don't care if there negative or not, I would just like some opinions to help guide me on this purchase.

(Also the models in question are standard, nothing special. I didn't get the model numbers as I was combining some errands and job interviews in the same day.)

im going to have to say, and i may get told that this is bad...but honestly i dont care, i went to wal-mart, and they have a hoover steam vac for $120, it works great, try that, let us know what you do.

Go basic

In my repair experience the basic hoover steam vac ($120 wal-mart model) holds up better than the Dual-V Models. I honestly don't know why that is but I find the Turbine assembly goes out more frequently one the Dual-v over the standard spin scrub. I will also add the standard spin scrub has less working parts to it ie: less that could go wrong.

thats the way that i look at it, i dont see any point in spending more than $200 on an over produced monster that is eventually going to stop working in some way.

I own and use a recent vintage MaxExtract Dual V in my rentals when I need a quick clean. It does the job it is supposed to do. It is all plastic and a bit flimsy. I would not expect it to last particularly long. The hand held tool is worthless as it leaks. I bought the squeege accessory for use on a vinyl wood flooring. It was a desaster and would not recommend this prodcut for cleaning wood style flooring. I have used it on linoleum and it is fine for that as well as carpets of course. The quality of the carpet cleaning is a step below a commercial unit but for the price and what it does it can pay for itself pretty quickly. I would get the Hoover MaxExtract Dual V when it is on sale. I bought my last one off the Hoover web site on sale for $155 in Dec. I have seem similar sale pricing on ocassion at Kohl's as well using the 30% Kohl's card discount. Amazon also has them periodically on sale. If you have time you can get a deal on it. The cleaning solution is also available on sale peridoically or you can buy alternative concentrated solution cheaper at Home Depot or Walmart; although Hoover recommends against the use of third party solutions in the machine.

I have 2 dual V machines. One is prob 05? total guess vintage, I love it, use it a lot, have apts here, cleans well. I had to replace the soap tank and recently the soap stopped leaving the tank, so I mix with water like the early ones I used to use, works fine. I have a much newer one, wider, more brushes, louder, more amps. I honestly do not like it as much. I got it for when the old one dies, figured parts would interchange, not so much, well the soap tank does! The new one is 3? years old maybe have used it twice.Really uses a lot of soap

Don't buy the Platinum Collection or Pressure Pro Series; those don't last as long as the SpinScrub Classic & original Dual V. I have a Model F5881-900 for 13 yrs & still runs like a top; its now just for "touch-ups" since I bought a Rinsenvac RV-85 with PB-850 Power Brush for heavy-duty jobs.

Hey guys thanks for the feedback. Sorry it took a few days, I haven't been on here in a while. So it sounds a few people don't like them and some do. The two wal-mart's closest to me have one model and it's $139. So after tax it's roughly $150. It is the exact model in the link that I will provide. Sear's has a few regular, non max extract models that are on clearance for $110. (I'm guessing it's old stock or something as they are brand new never used.) I think considering the dual-vs are normally anywhere from $200 and up, I'm going to bite the bullet and purchase the dual-v. That way I can say I've had the chance to use one and it will give me experience to whether I will purchase one again or recommend one.

hover steam vac

at my shop, we rent out the regular steam vac, the one in your walmart link...we fix a lot of the dual v's...unless you plan on doing hardwood, you dont need the dual part anyway
