I currently have a Swiffer Sweeper Vac. It only sucks up stuff when you move forward because of the disposable pad, if you move backward, it will not suck anything up. Also, the charge
gives out before I finish.
I am thinking about the Hoover slider except that it seems to have a very small collection cup.

I would buy a Hoover Flair if you want new as they are reasonable and offer lots of flexibility. The suction is pretty decent. If you want vintage...buy a used Electrik broom. They seem to run forever and are easy to operate.

Hi Tom. Is Hoover Flair cordless? I am looking for a cordless to do quick once overs around the house.

I also have a Hoover Telios when I do the entire house. I like the Telios but it has a very short cord.

Ross,

I have a Hoover Slider, its great for quick pickups on bare floors and such, and would work very well on your tile floors. I've had one for a couple of years and its great!

Slider!

I have one at my parents house and couldn't find it. I finally found it upstairs in my parents bathroom. It is great on floors! My Mom said something like how she would like one for each bathroom! The dirt chamber is small so i'm just in the habit of emptying it after each use!

Ross...

No I do not think that the Flair is cordless...I have to agree with what was posted in that the Slider's dirt container is way too small. I agree with you Ross that the Telios cord is very short. I got rid of mine for that reason. It was a nice little canister but there are better ones out there. Hoover was never into canisters as such they usually were difficult to use...just my two cents.

Hi Tom. Thank you. I grew up with canisters which is why I am accustomed to them. It has been many years since I have had any carpeting. Currently I have all ceramic tile floors so I think a canisters is best for me. I have been thinking also about upgrading from the Telios to a Hoover Constellation.

I was glad to see Tom's post about Hoover never being much into canisters. I've always held that opinion myself. Hoover has made some great uprights and some good uprights. But they've never made a great canister. I think the Dimension 1000 was probably the closest they ever came to a good canister..

Clay...I would say the same thing. The Dimension canister was a very strong machine and cleaned well. Now Hoover made some "interesting" canisters like the Connie and the Celebrity among others. However, "interesting" does not always clean. My vote for the best Hoover canister would definitely be for the Dimension 1000.

IMHO, the Slider is a wonderful little vacuum, yes the dirt cup is very small but if you empty after each use it really isn't a problem. I have give so many of those as gifts and everyone loves them. For an inexpensive cordless vac you just can't beat them.

Ross,
There is a Hoover Dimension 1000 close to home. I have one in my hall closet. The next time you are here we can get it out and use it. I too think it is the best cannister Hoover made. It has great suction and you can turn the machine on and off from the end of the hose-my favorite feature.I love the Quadraflex power nozzle.

Hi Roger. I am looking forward to using the Hoover Dimension 1000. As you know, I am a canister person instead of uprights.

I purchased a Hoover Slider on Terry's recommendation and really enjoy it. I bascially use it to pick up crumbs and surface litter from my hard floors, and I have some flat pile area rugs that it does great picking up lint on. I wasn't concerned with the size of the dirt collection because of what I'm using it for and because it's an empty and replace. It's cordless and really a handy thing to have.
