"Found one of these in green at the local goodwill today. Almost grabbed it. $10. I don't know why I didn't. Might go back for it"

I know where you can find a buyer! ;-)

I hope to pick mine (unrepaired) up tomorrow.

Yes, the store that I got both of my Hoover Celebrity's refurbed actually, probably could help. That is my buddies store in upstate New York that I mentioned.

The owners name is Chris and he is phenmomenal!! Chris is a member of this forum too: Hoover28 is his name. If anyone needs anything, I encourage you to contact him!!
The store is C.S. Vacuums in Oneida, New York.

-----Both of my Hoover Celebrity canisters were refurbed there.
----Eureka Rotomatic blue power team canister was refurbed and purchased from there
-----Hoover Widepath Breathe Easy upright was refurbed and purchased from there
-----Hoover Decade 800 was purchased from there and I serviced it at home, but since I purchased it, he sent me all of the parts that I needed for free!
-----Hoover Quadraflex powermatic nozzle was received from there for a Dimension 1000 upright
----- Previously owned Hoover Convertible Elite- teal addition was refurbed and purchased from there
----- Hoover Spectrum canister was purchased from there--- he sent me any parts that I needed for free again!

All said and done I've given lots of business because he is extremely reasonable on price, he HAS EVERYTHING pretty much and is very courteous, professional and easy to work with!!

He has a plethora of vintage and newer machines to select from to be refurbed and sold. Essentially if you have a dream vacuum in mind, tell him and he probably has it or something very very similar!!

Would you give me your friend's contact info?

I had high hopes for the local store because he was an actual **repair** guy, but my vacuum had him buffaloed.

I've thought about posting pictures, but a) I don't know how to, and b) nothing's different than when it was new! :-(

Thank you all.

Jeff,

that is Rob's contact, not mine. Hoover28, in upstate NY.
I do know of a repair shop in Utica Michigan that does only repair and sell used sewing machines and vacs. Nothing new, so they will not scam you into a new one, because they don't sell any.
It's called SAV sew and vac on Van Dyke avenue, Utica, Michigan. Just do a Google map search for the phone number and address. I'm sure they will give you an over the phone assessment and advise you honestly on wether you should bother to ship it to them.
Or you can contact Chad at Arbor Vacuum in Ann Arbor. He is also a member here, but I don't know him personally. I did refer someone there who needed a Miele bag compartment cover for a robin egg blue canister from California. He wanted a used part. Hard to come by, so I suggested finding any color, then matching the paint at a painter supply store for automotive finishes, or even having an auto body shop paint it.
I know that's able to be done, because my friend who bought a Pontiac Trans Am convertible needed a black front plastic bird insert for the front license plate insert. It was an out of state car which required a front plate.

The Chad to whom you are referring is Chad Michael! I can't remember if he is on this site or not?? He probably is, I talk to him on Facebook. He is a great guy and does have a vacuum store in Ann Arbor, Michigan area!

The vacuum guy that I mentioned is:

C.S. Vacuums
Oneida, NY
Chris
315-363-9083

He has just about everything!!!
