I did something I have not done in a while and checked Hoover's website, to find that they are now selling the Purepower (as well as a similar if not identical model called the Enigma) with a 700W motor.

That of course is a big difference from the 2100W motor in the "old" Purepower before EU Regulations came in to place, so my question is - has anybody here bought a new Purepower and what are your views on the 700W model?

I haven't bought the 700 watt Purepower upright but I have bought the Idol "DV70ID02001" bagged stick vacuum which has a 750 watt motor. It can be quiet and for its tiny 1.5 litre dust bag on board but with an older floor tool on it, it's okay but with a fixed handle and the standard floor tools you get, the stick vacuum fails to stand up on its own and its tricky to store, too.

For the £300 asking price it is far too expensive in my opinion. I had a battle royale with Hoover UK to send me out the correct floor head after they more or less admitted that the new floor heads aren't effective. They sent me a "free" Grand Nozzle turbo brush and its absolutely shocking. Even when fitted to an 1800 Zanussi cylinder vac, the turbo nozzle moves ever so slowly.

I intend to make a video of it soon. I doubt I would buy a Purepower low wattage vac after that.

There is an Enigma/Purepower model with a claimed AAAA rating which I hope to buy at some point and make a video comparison with my high wattage Purepower.

It will be interesting to see if Hoover have made any changes to the brushroll to achieve a higher pick up rating.
