Hoover Price Drop

Has anyone noticed that Hoover has dropped the price of its Platinum line. The bagless upright was originally $449. Their website now lists it for $299. The bagged upright was originally $399. It now lists for $299 also. I guess its premium line isn't selling as well as they had anticipated (perhaps given our present economy).

And perhaps the fact that people have caught on to the idea that Hoover isn't really Hoover anymore....

im waiting to see the canister, first is was to come out in july, now site says aug. pricing could be cus they sell them at the walmart now. lolol

Hoover price drop

Just got back from Fry's Electronics and I did notice that they had droped the price of the new Hoover from $499.00 to $299.00. It's a sad day when I can go into a store and see new Hoovers,Eureka,Electrolux,Panasonic and Dyson and NOT ONE vac that interests me enought to bring it home.
When I saw the new Hoover Platinum out of the box and on display they really do look cheap. I would not be very happy if I had just paid $499.00 for the machine a month ago!
Aerus may be making a good move by paring the new machine down from $1900.00 to $1600.00 and removing a few high end features.
