Have you seen the new Hoover Platinum Collection?
I think the new carpet cleaner looks pretty neat, it has Max Extract and is electronically controlled. It also has a price tag of $449.

They also have an 8lb Oreck Killer, that I saw at Wally-world this weekend, actually looks like a pretty good machine, also comes with a canister.

Hoover Windtunnel I I

I have a friend who bought a windtunnel II bagless. I used it once and decided it did a great job of cleaning carpets but
wrote it off as being "bagless". Then I used it again just
recently, realizing that there was a hose extention, as well
as a large floor brush with it. Plus when you set the carpet
dial to "barefloor" the brush roll, stops !!
I now have a completely new appreciation for it in comparison
to a "dyson" or a Kirby. I know that Kirby's are heavey to
carry up and down stairs, just as some people feel the same about Dyson's. AS well as this Hoover windtunnel II. Plus
I found it middle heavy in the handle and gave my back some
problems by the time I vacuumed 3 levels. I have to say since
I am a die hard Kirby fan, this bagless windtunnel can out
clean any other high end upright in the market. So after seeing the new Platium Hoover line up, I would say that TTI
may be onto a wonderful "new" world of Hoover, another future
for the new decade. Especially with the lightwight package using the "Windtunnel" technology !! I am sure that package of the two lightweight cleaners will kick you know what out
of Oreck. I didn't ck the price but I would buy the package in a NY min. and give it a try !!

I saw the HOOVER PLATINUM

commercial on the Academy awards last night. I think that is the first time in years I've seen a Hoover commercial.

Saw those vacs tonight at Wally World!

And I couldn't help but laugh -- someone where in a different thread predicted the trend would go back to bagged vacuum cleaners. I imagine Hoover is making that one small step for vacuumkind.

Did you notice too, the soft bag versus the hard shell casing? I thought that was rather interesting. (I think this is the one you call the Oreck killer.)

Hoover Platanum Collection

Just checked out the new Hoover's. I have seen the new combo at our WalMart. It may give Oreck a run for the money. It has a lot of nice modern features. I also liked the rug washer with the wide angle lighting and MAX extract feature.
We will have to wait and see how the build quality is and how available the parts will be on these new machines.
It looks like Hoover is going to take on the Oreck with the lightweight team,Dyson with the new Cyclonic upright and canister cleaners. Did anyone notice they are priced about $100.00 less than the Dysons with more features.
I do love the LED lighting on these cleaners.

Yes, I did notice that the pricing is right, as well as
the features that they offer for the price range. Like
I stated in another threat, maybe it was earlier in this
one. Is that tti, Hoovers are going to be a very good value
next to the compition.

John,

You are right, at least the Oreck attachments are real attachments..horse hair, an actual upholstery tool, and the bare floor tool is nicer on the Oreck.

If I were to buy one of the Hoover sets, I would replace the tools with after market and that way it may be a good little machine.

Personally, I have never liked any of the Hoover attachments (old or new), I have always liked the Eureka tools and Royal (older versions).

Overall this is a killer upright, it has strong suction and with the windtunnel technology in the nozzle nothing gets missed. The Unit pushes very easy on most carpets and is hard to push on fritze shag. The Headlight on this guy is the brightess I have ever seen on a vacuum cleaner. The Price is around $399.99 for the Upright and the Canister. The Canister is very powerful at 7.0amps, however after owning a Port-A-Power since 1984 it does not compare to it. The Attachments on the Canister need to be beefed up! The Dusting/Uphostery Nozzle is a joke, the hose is too short, give me the Hoover Attachments of yesterday any day!!!!
