Hoover Museum Research, Help Neeeded

Hello! My name is Allie. I am Museum Studies Student at Walsh University. I am working at the Hoover Historical Center. I have been working on doing a little research for the museum on some of the vacuums they found in their storge.

I have been running into some problems since Google seems to not understand what I am looking for, so if anyone here could help me I would be greatly thankful for it. Please look at the link I have provided (let me know if it does not work)

For any Hoover info, Tom Anderson

is a docent at that museum. He would have, or can get correct info for you. With any other machines, double check all facts to accuracy.
Some info may not always be correct. Ann Haines is also a great source for you.

The AMC is made by the Electric Vacuum Cleaner Co, being a private label for the American Marketing Corp. Their primary brand was Premier(like the Duplex shown later), followed by the GE branded machines. The GE version was model 111, and the Premier version was known as the "Grand".

The Dayton is incredibly rare, and appears to be made by Doty, which mainly made a red non electric push vacuum under the Doty name. That Dayton is likely the only one left in the world(if someone knows of another one, prove me wrong!)

That Clock vacuum is amazing, I've never even seen one. Is it electric or??

The Duplex was made around 1926. 1915 is the patent date for the general design, as they made several straight suction uprights after 1915.

That Tri Point, I have no idea. At first I thought it was a European floor buffer, lol.

The W~E Sturtevant! The motor was made by Western Electric and everything else was done by the Sturtevant Blower Company. They made them in sizes up to the average current shop vac.

The Richmond; Tom Gasko(Dysonman1 here) has one. I heard it was made around 1910 or 11, and had an optional set of wheels behind the head. It also depicts an attachment set in one of the ads.

The Nilfisk is certainly not from the US, they were sold everywhere in Europe however. Thats about all I know on it.

I saw a canister from Europe that reminds me of the cannon, but the cannon appears to be an upright so I am clueless.

Value for an old vacuum is how badly someone wants it. A good comparison that comes to mind is that nowadays more people nowadays want a 69 Dodge Charger than a 1910 Stanley Steamer. The same goes for vacuums. They are worth a fair amount of money to me anyways.

As for the Sanitator, I know of 1 maybe 2 collectors that have one, and I cannot find any ads for that model.

what does any of what you posted have to do with the topic thread at all? she was asking specifically about hoover cleaners. not anything you posted. either you replied to the wrong topic or didnt read her post.

Not one of the cleaners linked in the original post is a Hoover, nor is anything I linked. The Historical Center has and had a collection of competitors from its early days displayed, and OP said these were found in their storage. Almost all of OP's linked cleaners have very little documentation on the internet. I found her info on most of said cleaners, which seems to be what she asked for. I'm sure someone with an old appliance review book, etc could provide additional info on some of them, but I do not have anything of the kind so what I can find is limited.
Did you click her Google Doc link and view the cleaners?

I agree as you said what I was about to say.I saw no mention of Hoover in the information wanted.As I said 2 days ago you are finding great and rare info.

I think some might find it shocking that the contents of the Hoover museum - in storage, on display, or otherwise - are not entirely Hoover brand vacuums. They have other makes and types in their possession much like a lot of car museums that may focus on one brand but have gathered up other odds and ends over the years as orphans with no home. Which should be on display and not in a storage room, but hey.

I am actually amazed these survived. There is many stories from 2007-2009 in the archives of members here doing "vault runs" when Hoover was purging their vault of vacuums. A lot of great models too.

Yes, indeed.

I have about 20+ vault models. Tom A. is a very close friend of mine, as some may know.
That Hoover museum does, indeed, house machines that are not Hoover.
The current curator, Meghan, displays things very differently.
