Just got this last Friday....
The guy was clearing out a relative's house and found this in the attic. He sent me pictures and I immediately wanted to get it. It's a two speed Hoover 750 with the headlight (but no bulb.) The motor still runs beautifully. I need to figure out how to take out the brush to service it and replace the belt. It's a BEAST of a cleaner- the motor is louder than I thought it would be. Both speeds still work. The bag isn't original and is tattered. (You can't tell though because it's tucked under the top bag collar.) I'll have to make/find a new bag because the top of the bag is almost completely torn. I paid $25 which I think was a steal. I haven't ever seen a 750 before. I just polished it up and it's beautiful (would be even more so with a light bulb.) Are light bulbs even still available for this? He was going to throw this away had I not bought it.

Hoover 750

Good find and purchase!
Your Hoover 750 has the reto fitted lite. From what I was told the owner could put it on or the Hoover Copmany would do that for you.The Hoover Boys could tell you more about it.The belt( use a Eureka F/G belt) they are bigger and will fit nicely.Do not used a convertable belt/puts to much pull and pessure on the pulley and bearing.A replacement bag a Dustcare or a DVC one will work.Your brush roll there is a lever inside by the side/use your finger to find it and pull out and it will release the beater bar,it's on both sides.Make sure you put it back they you take it out.On the sides there will be a round and a square, make sure it is round with round and square with square. How is the cord, nice; it is a little thicker, than a normal cord as today.
Good luck and enjoy it.

Yea...

I had to make it worth his delivery of it though. It beats the cost of buying on ebay. The cord is in good shape with no nicks, just a couple small cracks. I do have a Eureka f and g belt so I'll let you know how that goes.

For a replacement bag

you might consider the heavy black cotton shakeout bags made for the Kirby 500. I re-fit my Hoover 700 and 725 with these and they look fairly authentic, even without a Hoover logo.

Or you can use a Hoover #44783 belt, it's softer and more stretchy then the convertable belt. I'm using one on my Hoover 105 without any problems.

Here's a little more info for you.

The bulbs are still readily available. They're called double contact bayonet base incandescent bulbs and can be had in 6 watts, 15 watts and 25 watts (that I know of). Either should be fine for your 750; the 6-watt variety is better for plastic-body machines. You'd want to get bulbs that are tubular shaped rather than round or oval.

Most larger hardware and home-improvement centers carry them, or you can check with local vac shops.
