hoover model 70 question

Hi,

I purchased a Hoover Model 70 off of Ebay some time ago. I wanted one as I had bought my mom a brand new one in the late 60's. I found one on ebay that looked like it was mint condition for it's age. I detailed and sanitized it, cleaned the motor housing etc. I also found a NOS outer bag for it. My question is this, when I turned it on, it doesn't seem to have the same power as my mom's did (bag deflates when pressing on it and the suction when lifting the front doesn't seem correct. I found new carbon brushes for it and put them in, hoping this would take care of the problem, but it did not and the old brushes were not that worn down. That is as far as my motor capabilities go.

My question is this, I have a nib Hoover Convertible motor, but I believe it was for the 4400 Series....Would it fit in my Model 70?


Thanks for your input......The second photo is of my model 707 and it has much more suction.....If the motor above will not fit, would this one?

service the motor and bearings on the brushroll. youll get the power back

may have had the motor out before and not put it back corectly causing it so suck air in at the wrong place so to speak or the rubber seal may be perished

Check the fan. It may have chips on it which could limit the suction.

Link doesn't work-if the vacuum fan is unavailable-you can probably carefully file the nicks out of the blades-you will need to file the one opposite to the damaged blade to keep the fan in balance.Jet engine techs do this to fan blades in jet engines in between major engine overhauls.The nicks can collect wads of lint and hair-causing loss of efficiency and cause vibration.But if the fan is cracked or broken-you will have to replace it!
