Well, I should be posting the final product sometime soon.... Here are some teaser pics of the resto of my 63! Enjoy! Fortunately, the cord was able to be salvaged!

(Before) Hood close up, some scuffs, scratches. I want to do all my restos to a like new state, those are now gone....

Hey Derek, the 63 is one of my all-time favorite Hoovers and I'm sure you'll do a magnificent job restoring it to it's original glory.  You're fast becoming a "rising star" of restoration work here and I love seeing what you're working on.  Keep it up!  I'm starting to feel like a slacker with a backlog of my own projects.  If only I could afford to retire. LOL

Wow! A fine restoration on one of my favorite hoovers. I'll never part with my 63 only if it's for a Hoover 900. Lol. It's to beautiful.

I feel this is the absolute peek model in hoovers long life.

WOWZVILLE!!!  Mild-mannered public servant by day, and vacumaniac magician after hours!  Congratulations, you must be feeling very happy with the results.

LOL Neil you are too kind. Yes I am very happy with the results, now which one next (have about 50 to choose from) hehehe

I dunno, the original condition machine didn't look too bad, what if you tried a little hand polish with some Mother's polish, I bet the scuff marks would have come right off...

@northwesty
The original job was too far gone on the sides to just polish off. I prefer the machines to not have the patina on. Just my preference, believe me, if the polishing would have worked I would have been happy (painting not my fav thing :)))

Paint....

What kind of paint did you use? I see spray paint cans in one of the pictures, but what kind of finish was in the paint to give it that glossy look?

i think it was smart to have painted the base but as for the bumper i use the mr clean eraser to clean and lemon pledge to brings life back the bumper and hood to deter that refurb look ....armour all or vac polish due great as well
