Hoover Model 62

I was lucky to find a Hoover model 62 vacuum just like my parents had during my youth. I am wondering if someone can answer a few questions -

1. was the "Handisac" the reusable open top type-W paper bag?
2. there is a brown cloth liner inside the cloth bag - what was its purpose
3. what was the "blower attachment"
4. are some type of after-market replacement cords available that can be used?

I am not familiar with resources for parts. The unit runs fine, just want to replace the cord and the blower unit if I can.

Any information of parts and supplies is appreciated.

Yes, the "Handisac" has the top that could be opened, emptied, and reused, several times before finally throwing it away.
Type W.
The "blower' attachment was used to blow air into radiator fins, between cabinets, appliances, etc.

I'll answer your questions. The cloth inside the outer bag, at the bottom, was a protection for the bellows and the paper type W bag where it attaches at the bottom, as insulation against the rubbing of the handle. The blower attachment replaces the bag assembly and the hose is usually added to the blower attachment with the crevice tool in place, for a high powered blowing action. I've seen model 62 restorations where a blue Kirby cord was uses as it's almost an exact match in color.

Later "Convertible" vacuums had a vinyl liner/protector, inside, to protect from handles, bolts, etc.
People would use said blower to 'blow air' into spaces to remove dirt/dust rather than 'vacuum' it. It was great for cast iron radiators. In our house, we always used a baby bottle type brush, then vacuum it up with the attachments.
