Hoover model 541 Brush Roll

A few years back I purchased an early 1920s Hoover model 541 upright vacuum in somewhat poor shape. Just recently I have gotten around to cleaning it up, and one of the issues I want to try and address is the brush roll. In its current state, it is useable, however, some of the bristles are starting to rip and fall out. I'm not sure of the material, maybe horsehair or some other type of organic material. On the main tube of the roller, it is stamped "REBRISTLED", but I am not sure how long ago that was. Any advice on how I could go about repairing this would be greatly appreciated.

A friend of mine rebristled all my Hoover brush rolls, including the brush roll for my 1910 Senior model. He did it as a gift and doesn't do it for a living. I do know he gets the horsehair bristles online and I'm sure there's a youtube video on how to do it. There was originally bailing wire that held the tufts of brushes, when yours was rebristled once, they just used glue.

just to add on here, oconnors DOES NOT re bristle anymore. talked to don personally, he's too old to do it anymore. john cadle in dover,ohio at his vacuum shop will re bristle for $50 a brushroll.

Thank you all for the helpful info, i think i will be able to use the diagrams in the links Huskyvacs sent to do it myself as it doesn't seem too complicated. As shown in the Pictures it appears someone in the past has glued in fairly modern bristles at some point which seem to be holding but i've noticed some of them have already fallen out. Of course i don't need or even want the replacements to be actual horse hair, so i'll probably look for a nice hand brush in need of retiring with some lengthy bristles and go from there.

Aside from that, the overall project of restoration seems to be fairly straight forward, and the only other issue i've ran into, as with most people it seems, is the bag. However in that case i believe it shouldn't be too difficult to just make a new one, as i can't necessarily order one from hoover lol.
