Fantastic Hoover!

Such a pity we never had it over in the UK. We had to make do with the Model 262 (Model 26 in the US?). The next model after that was the 612 (Model 60 and 61). Maybe they felt that the market, esp. after the war, wasnt big enough and couldnt support another new model.
Was there ever a Model 27?

Yes, there was a Model 27.....

Produced in 1945 and 1946, it was Hoover's first new "post war" model. It looked a lot like the Model 28, but different colors....

I have a

Hoover 27 with the original bag on it. It was a very strange color combination. The pics in the ad's shows it to be brown in color but it is really some shade of gray base and black hood on the sides with a burrelled walnut look on top. The bag actually has somewhat of a red cast to it. Also, Chris (Hoover28) told me that my Hoover 28 is an early model because the gold trim around the hood of mine is a metal strip rather than tape. They are both beautiful machines. I wish I had the original bag for my Hoover 28 like you do !!!!!! As Jeff said, it certainly is the icing on the cake. Oh how I wish I could find the old shake out bags for the early Hoovers. You have a BEAUTIFUL HOOVER 28 !!!!!
