Hoover Junior

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

It is from 1976. Co-Op Exclusive cleaner. The mainstream model was brown & white, with handle grip and furniture guard in beige. Height adjuster and on-off switch was orange. Model U1016.

The U1034 has been assumed to have been exlusive to the Electricity Boards, but this is not so as they were still taking stock from Goblin at that time, under the Electra brand.

Hoover Junior

Hi guys and thanks for comments.

It's in such good condition I am not going to use it. I don't think she has ever used it. The agitator looks brand new. There are no scratches in sight.

What a shame Hoover stopped making these beautiful vacs.

Jamie, I was nodding in agreement at what you said until you got to the Candy part.

Hoover ruined their own name. Candy came in and bought what was left. You may not like what they have done, but without it there may not have been a Hoover name.

Many brands have long gone, and not just in electrical appliances. Hoover Europe had someone who wanted to buy it. Most don't.

Hoover Junior

Hi guys and thanks for comments.

I have stored her away in my loft as it would be a shame to use her and get her scratched, lol. The daughter of the old lady said she has found another vacuum cleaner and I can have it. I don't know what make it is but looking forward to receiving it.

Will keep you all posted.

Hoover called them apartment vacuums because they were smaller. Apartments were usually smaller than regular home, at least 'over here'. We have the "Convertible", your "senior". Our "Dial-A-Matic

is your "convertible. We never said, junior/senior. That smaller vac would be considered great for homes with not a lot of space...like in an apartment.

Hi Bill.

I don't think she has ever been used. Not a trace of dust anywhere, so put her in my loft for safe keeping.

I remember in the 1970s, giving my age away now, my mum having a Hoover junior 1354a and loved it. I remember helping mum to vac and was always fascinated on how the light worked.

They don't make them like that anymore.

if Hoover started

making these vacuums again i have a feeling they would fly off the shelves .i have lost count of the number of people who say to me on a daily basis oh if only i could get a new Hoover junior i am so sick of having to lug this big heavy thing around with all of its tools and then it has to be emptied and the filters cleaned its such a chore .I just want to get the Hoover out have a quick clean up and put it away like i used to do just putting a new paper bag on or a new belt now and again .

I'm interested in the comments that a Hoover Junior would sell. Who might the target audience be? When the Constellation made a come back, sales were poor. Like all products of course, even if a demand for something exists, so long as consumers are buying something else the manufacturers don't have to worry. In the current economic climate, I can't see a surge in anything in any sector other than what one might call "the normal products".
