Hiya all, I have just finished my first ever re-spray on a vacuum cleaner- a hoover junior 1224. I know its not much but I wanted to post this as considering it was my first re-spray ever of a vacuum cleaner I felt proud of myself and it looks a damnsight better than before I started. The old scrapped paint has gone to make way for the new shiny white stuff! Tell me if you think I have done a good job!

Bumper

Also I forgot to say ignor the bumper- I will remove the drops of paint of that when I have more time!

Good job Jake. I understand the Junior was a popular vacuum in the UK. I repaired a few when I worked at a vacuum shop in way back time in the late 70's. Keep up the good work and enjoy it.
Thank you for showing it,
Pete

Re- spray

I would just like to say thank you for taking the time to comment on my post and that yes- your right, the junior was one of the most common vacuum cleaners in the uk. I also have a hoover senior or as Americans would call a 'hoover convertible' that I am also hoping to re- spray as the paint on that is scratched and its not in the original colour scheme.

Hi Jake,
I forgot to say anything about split rivets you can buy. They would allow you to remove the bumper before painting the metal vacuum. I can’t say that a purist would like that idea. We used then in way back time when I worked at the Vac Shop when I painted a machine and when we put new generic bumpers on and one that I took off. I added a few pictures of a old vacuum with split rivets hold the bumper on and a box of them I found on the Web. I don't remember the size we used.
Keep up the good work and enjoy it,
Pete
