Hoover info would be greatly appreciated

I have three Hoovers, that I would like to know some more information about. The Hoover Decade 80, Model: U4153, S/N 00135943, Hoover Convertible Model: U4393, S/N 00107189, Hoover Concept One U3319-9, S/N: 038800024450.

I have another Decade 80 in the car, but I will have to wait on that.
It would be nice to know what year these models came out. Both Decades have poor physical appearance, but run great after servicing. If it’s not too much trouble, I would like to speak with one of the club members who is a little more knowledge about Hoovers than I am. I found a source locally; I have taken home about five or six within the past two months. Anyway I would really enjoy speaking with a club member who is knowledgeable about Hoovers.

I can tell you that the concept 1 is from March 1988...the other machines, the REAL collectors will have to tell you about!!!

but, I try to offer correct info, or I'll find it. I AM considered "passionate" about HOOVERS, having 300, but, who's counting?

SPARKS!!!!!!!!!!

Okay guys, I have another question. After running the Decade 80 for awhile I knew something was wrong. I took off the hood and ran the vacuum outside in the garage and noticed a little lighting storm inside the motor. SPARKS!!!!

I already checked both carbon brushes and the length is okay. I did noticed that the shaft tends to pull towards the left. After taking off the metal brushing plate and the cooling fan. Is this normal or do I have a worn fan bearing? or do I just have a bad armature. The motor was also extremely hot.

If you see excessive orange or red sparking or smell ozone, it may mean the armature is bad. The occasional blue spark is OK. Excessive orange/red sparking is bad. But I would definitely get a more expert opinion. My advice can be dangerous!

Did you ever figure out the problem with your Hoover?

Yes, I think it will be okay. I sanded and reseated the armature and started using a genuine Hoover brushroll instead of the CWP that I was using. In my opinion the CWP brushroll puts strain on the motor when vacuuming my plush carpet. The motor is a 4.8 amp, but I could hear the motor change to a lower tone when using the CWP brush.
Hopefully it will be okay.
