I bought this Monday in the Humane Society Thrift Store in Vero Beach, for $6.00. This was in there the day I bought the Mixmaster, but I forgot to look at it, and only saw part of it from the back. I found some bottom feed Hoover Convertible bags and some unknown manufacturer treated Electrolux bags, in opened packages. Better than nothing, I went to the cashier, and she wouldn't sell me the bags because "someone pulled the price stickers off--see?" I offered her $1.00 a pack, but she wouldn't budge. "It's against store policy." Goodwill occasionally lets stuff out without a big deal, just to dump it. So, in order to seek my revenge, I gave her a 50 even though I had several smaller bills. Later in Vero, I picked up three unopened NOS Convertible bags for 25 cents. I think this is the same model I had years ago, when I gave it and a mint green Convertible with tools to a charity, when I wasn't collecting. My brother has one in his garage, which is a surprise, because they don't keep old things, except antique furniture.

My mother had that EXACT stick broom in the kitchen pantry for when she didn't want to get out the Rainbow. I don't remember what happened to it, but I'll never forget the way it sounded and smelled. Every now and then I'll get requests for the bags, so they're still out there working away.

Nice little find.. Mine doesn't have a handle or place for a handle on the back near the switch like yours?

This is the one I have that I got from the woman who sold me the Eureka ESP self propelled... didn't come with any more tools though, just a few bags. Still it was in beautiful condition. Are they bags still available for these or a special order?

most vac shops that carry Hoover bags will have G bags. not sure for how much longer. you can also find them on ebay.

Back in the late 60s my mother bought her mother a Hoover constellation and Hoover stick vac for Xmas. The stick vac was brown and orange with the larger sized floor nozzle which had the tabs for lowering or raising the brush. And that same Xmas my dad bought my mom a Regina stick vac with the dial on the floor nozzle for low, med, hi and bare floors. I was probably only about 9 or 10 at the time but I remember rushing over to my grandmother's after opening my gifts so that I could try out her new vacs.

Handivac

I have an older model and it has Handivac on the floor nozzle,I bought it for it's perfect original cord,I was thinking of my Dial-A-Matic,but I think it would be a perfect original cord for my Connie. Mark

Hi Alan, I think it is the same color as your Swingette, the brown is the same as the bottom of my Conny and parts of my Dial-A-Matic, we had a Convertible with the same color on the base,it had a green hood,no headlight,we will have to ask the Hoover experts what the color name is,I don't have bags for my Handivac,we have three old hardware stores here,I think I remember seeing the bags for this, two of them have bags for my Houskeeper Plus, really old stock,I broke the handle on my Shark Sweeper and it's Dirt Devil replacement is just not cutting it so I'll try the Handivac, just for kwik clean ups in the kitchen. Andy this vacuum does have a distinct smell to it kinda like an old Sunbeam mixer. Mark

Thanks, Seamus, I had that feeling it was the infamous Seal Greige! I originally referred to my Swingette as taupe, which I believed was a pink tinged brown. Actually the 1966 Funk and Wagnalls Standard Encyclopedic Dictionary says "dark grey tinged with brown, purple or yellow." My vacuum is Crayola flesh colored crayon. I have a feeling that was discontinued.
