Provided that you have the clip

I do have the clip. It had an old bag on it with some dust in it. Just had that antique smell haha. What year did they produce those? I'm not too familiar with hoovers, but this one is surely cool. Thanks!

The Finest HOOVER Cleaner Ever Built

It is built well and has a lot of power. I love the whole look of the machine and was shocked what great shape it was in. I am lucky to have found it for such a crazy low price. Didn't think twice about grabbing it up. Thanks for the info!

I've been having a good time restoring mine, but I have yet to figure out how to fix the crack in the hood on mine, and I can't find a brushroll anywhere. I hope to finish it so it can be used.

This * might * actually be a Model 60. It is hard to tell in the picture - is the handle squared, or round around the edges? Is there a handle release button up at the top of the handle near the grip? If it is squared, then it is a Model 60, which debuted in 1940, right before the War.

Whichever it is!!

You have a piece of real American quality....made before computers, before plastic took over, made when people were proud of what they made, and the motto was.." Build it better than it has to be, use the finest materials, take your time and do it right" its odd that with all the tools we have now, we cant produce anything of this quality or performance today!

Turn the vacuum over

I have a beautiful restored Model 61.
Model 61 was manufactured from August 17, 1946 up to January 5, 1950.

Serial numbers ran from 1,300,001 up to 1,687,860

Total sold was 383,972

This was the Cadillac of Hoovers. Starting price [without attachments]
was $95.00

The HOOVER lettering is brass.

You could always use a C bag as the W bag is no longer made. I still have 6 new W
bags. I empty after each use. If you do use a C bag I would recommend cutting the bottom of the bag to get rid of the staples.

ENJOY!!!! I use my collection for all of my cleaning.

You definitely have a model 61 - you can tell with the handle release pedal sticking out of the hood. Also the base of the 60 was a darker, more chocolate brown, almost the same color as the hood.

The models 60/ 61 are some of the most beautiful Hoover cleaners ever manufactured. Such show-stoppers. Also great cleaners!! Congratulations on an amazing find! This just goes to show you that there are still plenty of treasures out there waiting to be unearthed! It's amazing when you walk into somewhere, either a thrift store or estate sale - and you see something that you know is a diamond in the rough.

Congratulations on an amazing find

Thanks! I'll post some pics once I get it all cleaned up. It sure sounds awesome when running and is smooth as ever. Definitely was excited to add it to my collection!

all the tools we have now, we cant produce anything of this

Isn't this the truth! I love all of the vintage appliance and vacuum finds and enjoy using them more than new "stuff" I have. How can our country have "pride" when we get so much junk from China. Unreal!
