Miele copycat
And best to avoid & not buy. Not a Compact/TriStar copy at all. When this Hoover Anniversary came out, they were mimicking the Miele Solaris S500/S600 series & Miele S5 series canisters that came right after them. Put a Miele S5, like a S5281 Callisto, right beside the Hoover Anniversary, & it's plainly obvious.
However, looks are only skin deep in this case. The powerhead has fixed steering, no swivel steering like a Miele powerhead does, poorly designed attachments, stiff hose, cardboard bag collar with no closure vs plastic bag collar with closure for Miele, & poor quality HEPA filter. In fact, advertising on the box & on Hoover's website at the time indicated it was the HEPA bag that was responsible for filtration, NOT the exhaust filter. Plus, bag costs are ridiculous....$11 for 2 bags, or $5.50 each! That's even worse than Miele bag prices, & for a HEPA bag that's average quality, at best.
There's another much more important reason to avoid this model, though: TTI had HUGE problems with premature circuit board failure on this model. It had to do primarily with a fuse that powered a micro plug on the board which sent power to a micro receptacle on the wiring harness with the powerhead receptacle on the bag door that the electric hose is powered by. Very common to see this model show up 1 1/2-2 years old into the 3 year warranty with a dead powerhead. TTI's answer was to send out a entire replacement canister to the dealer to give the customer, rather than repair it. I owned one that did this, & found a easy solution was to re-wire around the board & take power for one wire from the switch, & the other wire from the cord reel. This particular body style was sold under other names such as Wertheim & Prolux as well, & Oreck & Airway with some slight styling changes.
The Cirrus canister linked below is the direct replacement for the Hoover. It is also sold under the name JohnnyVac Xclusiv XV10 Plus here in Canada, with gold trim instead of silver trim, as well as Vapamore Vento in America, but with a different powerhead, no powerhead on/off switch on hose handle - only on the powerhead, & yellow body with black trim. These new models also have a much better quality HEPA filter that uses much higher quality paper, & is a sealed HEPA system too. I would suggest buying one of these 3 models over the Hoover Anniversary.
