Any car people out there get the reference?

Anyway, look what I got today! Really this has to be one of the most odd looking sweepers ever made. That being said, I think it looks fantastic. I got this one off of a facebook marketplace post. I did a quick clean out of the filter and tank (although the tank could use a real washing), and yeah it runs without a hitch. It is really bizarre hearing that clattering noise from the filter, almost give it a mechanical sound, even though it's really just a peice of paper being flicked by a paper clip lol.

Really excited to have found this, been wanting to find one for a few years now.

That is such an interesting and Troublesome vacuum. Glad to see a few of them getting saved bycollectors! I wouldn't call it fairlady Z as it's just elegant.

I got the Nissan reference lol

That’s amachine I wouldn’t mind finding just for the oddity and rarity of it. Definitely a complete monstrosity, Hoover ended up replacing any that broke with a free Elite rewind... I never truly understood the need for such a complicated filter that the customer can’t remove and replace. I’ve never gotten into one of these, I did replace the filter motor in a Windtunnel 2 once, and said never again.

Kudos on getting the datsun/nissan reference! I don't plan on using it much, just glad to have one. It's the 400 model, not the 700, but really I like the white of the 400 more than the color of the 700. Although, the LED lights would have been nice. This one's body is surprisingly in such a nice shape. I feel like it was trying to "do a dyson" with the striking futuristic look, but functionally it goes about it in almost a complete opposite way as dyson. I mean the tank system is basically a morph of the twin chamber design, atleast as I see it anyway.

Talking about the Fairlady...

My favorite and one of the most famous Fairlady Z's. The ABR Hosoki 280ZX. Has a top speed of 216 MPH. Was in the famous Mid Night Club.

That dumb clunky thing is more like a AMG H1 Hummer than a Nissan, lol Those vacs are notoriously terrible and well know for being heavy, cumbersome, and noisy.

They do have a cult following though despite this and many collectors want one. I was fortunate enough to find a Garry vacuum at a Restore for $10, which in the coming years will become rarer I am sure.

There's something about a real monstrosity that captures the vacuum-obsessed mind. Some of the poorest built machines of the past are todays collectible rarities.

I've seen a few of those come into Habitat in the past, I know there was a white one and maybe a silver one. I remember a couple looking at the white one and remarking how heavy it was. I would like to try using one just to see what they're like.

Fan of fans

They are insanely heavy, posibly one of the heaviest I've ever had my hands on. From what I've gathered using it, even with a clean filter, they have really poor suction, but its aggitation is actually fairly solid.

I opened my MINT "Z" for the first time

at one of my mini meets. It's actually very nice....NOT a stellar choice for a daily driver, though. Big, heavy, etc... it was Hoover's "butch, MAN VAC"!
I'd never use it regularly to clean this 12-room house: I'd go out of my mind.
But, IF you collect, especially "all things HOOVER", you must have at least one. I just gave one to Tom (Anderson).
