Hoover Encore Power Rating

We all know the ridiculous "Cleaning Effectiveness Per Amp" shenanigans that took place a few decades ago, but I'm not complaining about that here. My newest Goodwill find, a 1996 Hoover Encore (S3393-040), states in bold white lettering that it "Uses Only 6.7 Amps". I have a 1988 Hoover Spirit with the same motor and it uses 7.75 Amps with hose. I was actually hoping that Hoover was completely lying as I bought the $3.99 Encore to pull the motor and replace the very loud one in a Hoover TurboPower 5000.

To my surprise, the little Encore pulls 8.43 Amps using a hose. That's a difference of 8.43-6.70 = 1.73 Amps or about 26% above their rated power!

The picture below shows the power usage of just the canister without anything hooked up to it.

How are condition of filters? What is the amperage rating without hose attached? Does it appear that the motor currently installed is not original to the machine?
Wire nuts would be different most likely if the motor was a replacement.

The Encore was straight suction. There was a red Encore Supreme that did have a power nozzle. The Spirits that I have seen are a dual fan system. PowerMax, Futura, and Windtunnel canisters utilized a single fan system. However the airflow and suction from a Futura/ PowerMax machine has always felt much more powerful to me over that in Spirit/ Encore models that I have tried.

The above picture is the Encore running without the hose attached as their would be no room for it. In this case, I was comparing the Spirit with no bags/filters and the Encore with no bags/filters.

When I saw this red beauty in Goodwill for $3.99, I was hoping that the 6.7 Amp rating was a complete fabrication. Turns out it is. Now my challenge will be to install this two-stage motor into the TurboPower 5000. As you know, even after replacing both front and rear bearing in that machine, the motor still vibrates too much. The Encore's motor has the same performace as the 5000, but since the motor turns at a lower speed and doesn't vibrate, my ears will be saved!
