Hoover Dimension 1000 Update

Hi guys, it's been awhile since I've been on but I finally got more parts for my Dimension 1000 that I bought from Nick awhile ago.

The original hose is the grey one made from the material that was notorious for kinking and twisting.

I bought a used Quadraflex agitator online which is actually in decent shape and will clean up well.

Today I drove out and picked up a new hose, set of wands, and another Quadraflex agitator. The new hose is the black one, is a foot longer, and is made from a material that is much more pliable and flexible. There are no kinks except for a very minor one near the canister side hose cuff. The slider switch is broken off but it still works.

Best part of all, the parts I picked up today were free. I did have to drive an hour to get them but it gave me an excuse to get the M3 out of the garage and out on the road one more time before I put it away for the winter!

Attached some pics, when I first received it, after I cleaned it up a bit, and ones from today. Still have a lot of restorative work to do but I'm taking my time because I've so little free time right now!

Looking good! I love my Dimension 1000 Electronic, it's so quiet on low, and the automatic feature is just too cool!

Super-sweeper, oh yes I know! I also love the fact that this machine doesn't creak and crack when you pick it up, change the bag, or block the suction like 99.9% of the vacuums made today. It is a bit heavy but it's built like a tank... most likely why the one I had during my childhood lasted 20+ years!

Here's a few more pics. Probably gonna pull it apart again and put my dual-action polisher to all the individual pieces when I get another free day. It needs a new tool lid but it's in overall good shape. Brush strips are pretty much brand new on the one power nozzle.

Been using it today and just love the longer hose!

Love the sound of the motor winding down as well

Congratulations on the process for getting your Hoover Dimension 1000 where you want it to be! They are very nice machines and I know that you'll appreciate using it for many reasons!! Just to name a few, but the Hoover Dimension 1000s are durable, quiet, powerful machines. The Quadraflex Powermatic nozzle grooms carpets beautifully with a very pleasant sound. The elbow has a locking swivel so that when you want it swivel for easier cleaning under furniture, you can, but for normal cleaning, the power nozzle wand set stays straight with ease.

Your TOL model with the variable speed is a great thing to have because those machines have tremendous pull! I don't know if you have pets, but that upholstery attachment with the rubber fingers makes quick work of pet hair removal.

Hi Rob, good hearing from you. I did contact you yesterday at your gmail address, pretty much said the same thing there as I did here haha.

Gonna stop by my local vac shop after work today and let them take a look at it, the owner is curious as is one of their techs as they haven't seen one of these in a long time!

I'm probably going to switch out the slider switch because the grey hose's switch is still intact while the black hose's switch needs to be moved with a screwdriver. I pulled apart the handle yesterday and saw the contacts are soldered into the slider switch but it shouldn't be anything too hard to repair. The hardest part will be finding my soldering iron where ever that may be...

I'm glad to see the Hoover is in good hands. That black hose is a nice find. I wonder why the gray one is shorter?

Dropped the two hoses off at one of my local shops to have the slider switch transplanted. The grey kinked hose has the slider tab, the black hose that's in better shape has no tab. Trying to make one good hose from both!

I would've done it myself but the contacts to the wiring are all soldered on and I hate soldering, especially something this delicate and with the potential to screw something up, irreplaceable!

Test drove another Miele today for the heck of it, Green C3 Limited Edition. I haven't used my Marin in so long, mainly cause my Kirby has been my daily driver for the past eight months or so!

Nice.
I remember buying that vacuum, TOL, back in 1985/6 brand new, from a local vac shop. They had two models: the TOL gray one and a green one. I think it was upwards of $385 back then.

It was quiet and of course the floor tool, which had been around before and long after, this vacuum, is good.

Here's another one!

I received my other Dimension from Kenny Loveland today. I saw it on our favorite auction site and put a bid in, I figured it may be him from the forum after I recognized his name and his username here.

It's a model S3281 to complement my S3493. The hose is in mint condition save for the button on the slider switch that is missing but the tab is still there. The vacuum itself is in great shape, there's a minor crack on the handle and the cord rewind side of the power bar has a screw to hit the cord lever inside but overall it's in great shape! The dusting brush, crevice tool, and upholstery tool are missing but the floor tool is pretty much in new condition save for the hair and stuff that needs to be cleaned off. I can get these tools at my local Vac shop for cheap so it's no big deal.

There is no power nozzle (but I have a spare Quadraflex) and there are no matching wands although he did include a set of aluminum ones and an upholstery tool.

I thought I wouldn't be too hot about the green but it's actually growing on me. When I pulled it out of the box my boyfriend said he really liked it. The flash makes the green look a bit less attractive, but it's a softer green in real life.

This is a nice addition as most of my collection has now been gotten rid of after my mom donated a bunch of machines (certain members know the whole story).

P.S. I hate smiling by the way, but my better half kept telling me to smile more, so he settled for my serial killer smile instead
