I have a model 1100 Hoover Dial a Magic. Is this their first model? It is in great shape, what maintenance should I have done to help ensure it stays that way? I just ordered an attachment set from eBay. Thank you.

First of all, it's Dial A MATIC and not magic.

Second, that appears to be a model 1110. The 1100 (First Dial A Matic) did not have a check bag indicator and it was also orange rather than blue. The hose did not have a cuff on the end that goes into the bag door. Rather, it was permanently attached to the door. Did you check the model number on the bottom plate underneath? If it actually says 1100, then the bottom plate had been swapped at some point.

I've attached pictures of what a 1100 actually looks like. See the differences for yourself.

Nice Find!

Well, now to follow that disciplinary post we just got blasted with above..... LOL

Nice find and addition to your collection with the Dial-A-Matic (D.A.M) as some call them.
I have a very limited knowledge of Dial-A-Matics other than knowing it was Hoover's first Clean Air (Bypass) design. There seems to be a love/ hate relationship for these. Some really love them and others want just about nothing to do with them. LOL.

It's quite possible over the past 50 -60 years of its life that the baseplate got replace or the font text got scratched off for the model number.
