It's the demo tool for the Constellation. Remember, the first two models were sold by door to door salesmen.

Im betting its for 1956 and 57 Constellation demos, If it were for 1955 it would have blue trim on the latch instead of white.

Interesting piece of history.

I believe all companies had some form or way when demonstrating to show how much dirt they were picking up. But that certainly is an interesting attachment/tool.

I am assuming there would be a black cloth that would be placed inside to show the homeowner just how bad of a job their old cleaner was.

no blue. Tom A. will have the specs for us . He has all that info, as well as the photos of the prototypes. I have copies. Tom is/has the real deal.

Does tan vinyl strip on the latch indicate that this went with the tan Constellation model?

I think the 84 and 85,

Same color as the latches on those.

not the blue ones. Tom A. will have all the details about it. He very well may even have one himself. I'd be surprised if he didn't. But, we'll see.
