Hello,
I just acquired a nice Hoover Decade 800 vacuum (I previously restored a Decade 80 in 2008). For starters it will need a new fan blade and belt. My question is what is the recommended bearing/bushing lube for the motor. Also, what grease is recommended for the roller. I've looked in the archives and watched a Youtube video on subject and I've found a lot conflicting info. I though it would be best to check here with the experts. I'm planning to go to Grainger on Monday and they usually carry all the lubes. Gary

Thanks for the help. I usually use Mobil one red synthetic grease, I hope that works.

I thought maybe there was a clear grease or white lithium grease for the roller so it won't wreck the carpet if any excess leaks.

Also, reading prior threads, I understand there is red or black can 3 in 1 lube. Any difference in the two? Gary

The grease I use is a multi-purpose grease which is suited for bearings and other things, as for the 3-in-1, I just use what's to hand, I don't know if there's a real difference between one or the other, maybe viscosity or detergent content, but that's about it, I'd have thought if it was sold as 3-in-1, it'd be the same regardless of the bottle colour... :)

I've been told you need to use the 3-in-1 that comes in the Blue can, the other one (Red & Black can) will turn to goo and cause problems with sleeve bearings... :)
