Hi Everyone, So here’s my dilemma I have a Hoover decade 80 model # u4385 that I have been working on for a while. So here’s my problem my height adjuster lever and tension spring are flimsy and will not move when I move the lever to set the height, I really do not know what’s wrong or what I did wrong to fix it the right way, I put all the right parts on the correct way, but when I tested it out I only got the adjuster to move a little and when I tried to keep adjusting that’s where the problem started getting flimsy and would not move.

Can Anyone please tell me what the problem is!!

I Will Post pictures and a video to show you what’s going on!

Please Please Let me know if you can help me solve my problem

Here’s the pics!

You have to lubricate the lever before it can slide up and down correctly. This is common on old machines where dust makes the lever stick. Lubricate it at the point where the adjustor slide meets the lever.

And in addition to Tom's comment, I would like to say - make sure you use a non-tacky grease that will not attract dust and dirt.
