I'd like to share with you a video I posted on Youtube of the oldest vacuum I own: the Hoover Custom Convertible model U4395. Now, the U4395 was not a trash find, it was bought new without attachments from K-Mart back in 1985 by my grandma. My grandma gave me the Hoover Custom convertible not too long ago because she found that the belt was hard to change, so she replaced it with a Hoover T Series Windtunnel from target. As you can probably, tell, the Hoover Convertible sounds great and looks like it is almost in mint condition. this vac was the middle of the line hoover convertible for K-Mart back in 1985. Now, I do plan on getting attachments for this vacuum some day, and when I do, I may post another video of this vac running with the attachments. And while this vac is over 27 years old, this beast has never been in the repair shop as far as I know. Feel free to tell me what you think about my 1985 Hoover Custom Convertible model U4395.

80's convertibles

That is a well taken care of machine,I find convertibles very well designed and easy to service,I like the looks of the full hood models.

Thanks for your compliment on my Hoover and on my rug. And I'll eventually find a nice set of attachments for the vacuum

the plastic convertibles were high performance at its best

and with a metal bottom plate .....breathtaking power and performance....thanks to tom anderson....i am fortunate to have several hoover vault units of various brand names...of this era and nothing deep cleans deep plush and grooms it better....i love all hoover convertibles from 1957 and up..... but in 1975 with high performance metal and plastic the world of the convetible changed....i think peaked.....and the colors and styles went above and beyond......it makes me sick when members down grade the plastic post 1977 to 1993 domestic convertibles....when you were in a neck and neck sales war with eureka you have to make concessions and keep up with customers wants and needs.....collectors dont always see that ....that why i love toms collection because his is the most comprehensive and clearly shows the domestic convertibles true evolution from begining to end and also his convertible industrial uprights.....that john so proudly displays when he visits......as for this beautiful convertible from the kmart line.....it looks and sounds magnificent..take good care of it .....dont ever give it away.....as long as it says hoover electric motor on the left front side its a true hoover
