Hello everyone! This is my first post. My name is Joe, and I have always wanted to collect vacuums, but never had space. I recently moved and I have space now! I don't know a whole lot about this stuff, but I really like the old Hoovers, especially the Convertible series. This week, I acquired a Hoover Convertible model U4335 in excellent condition from ebay. I would love to get an older metal base convertible, but I like them all so I started with this one. I really like that green bag! Any information about it would be appreciated!

I should be receiving this one in the mail next week. I can't wait! I will take some better pictures when it arrives!

Here is another view. I only paid $25 for it, so if it arrives looking this nice, I will be very happy! (These pics are from the ebay listing)

Joe...

Welcome to the group. You will find many fans of the Hoover Company here.

Your Convertible looks to be from about the mid to late 1980s and looks like it would have been sold at Kmart. You found a very nice example of a Convertible cleaner which was one of Hoover's best selling lines of cleaner for over 30 years.

Wouldn't it be great to bring this mint green Convertible "home" to North Canton this summer during the convention????

Joe, welcome to our family here. That is a beautiful Hoover, just love that color combination! Let us know what you think of it when it arrives. Terry

I have received several emails from you guys allready! Thank-you for the warm welcome. Its nice to know that there are other people out there who collect these things, and really enjoy them.

Next on my list of Hoovers to find is a 31 Convertible or any nice looking metal base convertible. I would also like to find a 150, but those seem few and far between.

Welcome, Joe!!

Glad to have you with us! And yes, the late model Convertible is a great start for your collection, and I'm sure there will be many more to follow! The rest of the guys who have posted on this thread have pretty much covered all the bases, so I'll just say "ditto" to what they've all said and again, welcome!
Jeff

Welcome Joe

I don't know where in the area you are, but I live in the burbs, not far from the Woodfield Mall.
Here is a little sample of my collection:
Drop me a line if you like.

Thanks Joe,

if you ever are in the NW burbs, give me a shout. I have all but one Convertible model from the 60's (model 704) and three never used vault machines.

John, those colors are rather tame, compared to the other side of the room:

That is a sweet Hoover you have there. I bought my first Convertible for $10 the other day, its not nearly as nice as yours and it has the plastic lens over the headlight missing.
But it works just fine.
I've gotten a couple of Kirbys recently for a really good price. They are quite a machine. I'm looking for a Rainbow right now too. I'm catching some flack from my wife though for getting to many vacuums.
And Hoover 1060, your collection is just awesome!!! I could stare at it all day.

I wouldn't worry about the name too much....

but you might want to look your best for the uniform... :-D
