That is it. Thank you. I guess I thought the deluxe would have more features, but it is reversed, with the Custom having the deluxe features. Just opposite of the 1020/1070 lineup.
 
I wholeheartedly agree, the Hoover Convertible (Custom, Deluxe, or basic) was indeed an excellent vacuum cleaner. Being the proud owner of several models (Including the U4003), I have nothing but glowing praise for that series which, in my opinion, is a very happy marriage of durability, convenience, efficiency, and handsome styling.

BTW, does anyone have the brochure/specification sheet for the U4003? I would love to see it.

The U4007 is next on my "must-have" list of Hoovers! I just love the color combination of the bag, with the orange and dark green swirls against the gold background. Very 1970s psychedelic chic!
 
Yellow Convertible

I have the yellow plastic one U4007 gottahaveahoove. Totally cleaned up, it runs but really needs a new brush roll.
