It works fine.

The handle and cord look original.

I'm not a vacuum expert. I wouldn't know if the outer bag is original. It has an old zipper on the back that still works.

That is a genuine Hoover "replacement" bag.  It looks like it has a top-fill setup.  If not,  it can accommodate one.


  The original bag is brown, with snaps.


  It is commonly refered  to as "The Brady Bunch" vac.  Alice used it on the show.


  Here's mine in a Hoover lineup.

It is top fill.

It looks like quite a lot were made if the serial numbers of the first 1020 made started with a low number but I'm not familiar with the old serial numbers.

The newer Hoover serial numbers I was told have the two digit month and two digit year at the beginning.

So I can tell my other Hoover upright in the first picture in this thread is a U5071-930 manufactured in November 1999 which sounds right.
