Since I am just getting starting in vacuum collecting, I just wanted to know how some of the maintenance is done.

Over the past weekend, took take apart and lubed the brush roll bearings.

Now the question is about the motor. I see how to get to the sleeve bearing on top. But how do I get to the bearing on the bottom where the fan is? I see there are 4 screws that have to be removed to take the motor out. However, one screw is directly under the 2 speed switch (this is a U4007).
Any tips and tricks on doing this?
Any advice on maintenance I should know?

Thanks! :)

I can help you spats...

The lower bearing is a ball bearing and will need some greasing now and again.
Its an easy procedure too.

Thanks Jeff :)

I will be going away on Spring Break. I won't be back until the middle of next week. Maybe then you could help me out.

I don't have any repair manuals yet on vacuums. I did learn from the user instruction manual about the sleeve bearing on top and the ball bearing on the bottom.
It's just getting to it that I don't know how to do. That one screw that I am assuming I need to take off is in the way of the 2 speed switch.

No worries Spats!

shoot me an email when you get back and I will be happy to help you!
Enjoy your spring break!
