Does anybody know where I can get a belt/bag retainer for a Hoover Convertible type C bag setup? Mine is pretty worn out. I might have some questions about painting. I received a model 33 but the white paint around the base is in poor condition.
While I am posting I thought I might share this as well. Wednesday I received a Hoover Convertible model 31 in pieces which included: the metal base, hood, handle and newer style motor and bag. However the newer motor did have a metal fan attached. Not knowing the history on this maybe the man I bought the vacuum from had installed the original fan on a newer motor.
Anyway the cord was cut into and the motor had only been wired for testing purposes. So I used a spare cord and bought a step on switch from Lowes and assembled a sort of homemade convertible. I have wanted a metal based convertible for awhile because I already had the attachment set for one. It cleans very well and really seems to dig into the carpet. I bought some brush strips which really improved performance. I will use this daily, I used some twist terminals and wrapped all the connections in electrical tape. Let’s hope I don’t get electrocuted. Just kidding! I should be fine.
If this was a complete model 31 I would not have proceeded to do this. However I have always wanted to create a vacuum from spare parts.
Although the newer motor was a two speed, I could not get the two speed switch for the attachments to work so I removed it. I would like to paint the base very soon. I may have to enlist some expert help on that.
I must say the rear conversion attachments have more suction than I had originally thought. It would be nice to have the original vinyl bag for the attachments. Any clear vinyl bag would be okay. Maybe a clear tote bag would work.
Anyway just thought I would share, once again. Hope everyone has a happy Labor Day!!
