My girlfriend, Pete wanted to help me tear down a vacuum today, So I asked her what kind she wanted to work on. She told me "One of those ones that have the bag attached to the back." I showed her my Convertible 1010 and she wanted to do that one, so we went to work. She started cleaning the bag and hood and I went to work on the motor.

I wrote something under the newly cleaned hood,

I did this to make this a little more special, it says Tyler & Pete's 1st restoration together 12-22-2013

Getting 'er back together

After rebuilding the brush roll and the cleaned up base plate was installed, I put a VacSewCenter.com label that I had on the base.

I noticed that Hoover modified the hood lettering on the 1010 at one point as mine sports a brown rectangle around the wordmark.

I still have this machine in my collection! It does see use in my house from time to time to keep everything moving on it. I'm out of Type C bags so I'll have to go to Ace and get some, but this machine runs just as good as the day me and my ex put it back together. I'll get some updated pictures of it some time soon!

Thanks for the clarification about the similar features of the 1010, 1020, & 1030 of which I was unaware. Were there mechanical differences or just changes in cosmetics?

I do, indeed, have a Model 1020 - like Alice Nelson's on THE BRADY BUNCH.

Yes. All cosmetic. Yours should have the gray vinyl bag. The 1030 had a green one and is what I always liked since I saw Spats Bear's video of his.

Yep, mine has the gray bag (I think Hoover named it taupe).

I must have seen the video you mentioned; I recall thinking that my bag was a replacement when I saw the spring green bag. Glad you made me aware of the trio. Do you know of other sets of successive models with cosmetic updates in the same or similar colors? I'm familiar with those that went from metal to plastic bases or had added features ID'd with suffixes added to the model numbers but not any with different model numbers.
