My Hoover has blown up! The best DIY vacuum in the world just went bang and stopped. Having taken it apart it appears that the radio suppressor has failed.

It is an ISKRA Lead through type with 4 spade connections. Cylindrical, approx 50mm long and 20 mm dia.

Working voltage is 250 v AC 60 deg C

It is ISKRA Type KPLB 749

Pt No C 638571 rated at 0.2uF

I am having difficulty sourcing a like for like replacement and do not know about electrical design to just fit a different type that will do the job or shorting out and not using the capacitor.

Any help would be appreciated, a serviceable old one, acceptable replacement with wiring details or how to just bypass the suppressor anyway.

I would really like to get this wonderful machine working again to save my wife's new Dyson from a pounding and earache.

Even with a crt, from personal experience you'll be fine just wiring back up without the suppressor.

Be sure to give all the rubbers a good clean whilst you have it in bits, will make it good as new again.

Diy you say, doesn't it blow the dust everywhere?

Thanks GSHEEN and BEKO. I take it 1 mains wire to one side of the motor and the other through the switch to the other side?

Job Done

I've cut out the suppressor and it's working. What to do?
Remove the short black wire opposite the Red on the suppressor and that goes to the one of the brushes. Directly connect the red from the switch to this brush. Cut off the small spade connectors from the blue and black attached to the suppressor, other brush and negative side of power, join these with a piece of chocolate block. Done.

Thanks every one.

Will the same work with a Hoover 1334 motor as i have the shell and motor off a 1334 but the suppressor is missing from the motor .There are 3 wires connecting it to the motor as i have seen from my other 1334 motors so leaving these out completly would cause any problems to the running ?

The suppressor has just blown in my Senior Ranger and even leaving the blown one in doesn't seem to cause any issues, it still runs fine.
Although I am not sure it would matter if I left it in or removed it.
