Hey guys... just wanting to get your opinions and im sure there will be quite a few. But do you all thing the Concepts(model U3319-9) or Windtunnel(model U5472-900) are better at deep cleaning thick dense plush carpet? And do those embedded dirt finders on the windtunnels really work?? Any feed back would be great.

Well, personally I would say that the Concept is the better cleaner. It's much better build quality and has a much better brushroll (Hoover's famous Quadraflex agitator as opposed to the dinky little plastic thing in the WindTunnel)
Also, the dirt finder lights don't necessarily mean that your carpet is clean. All they do is indicate that the vacuum can't find anymore dirt. It doesn't mean that there isn't more being left behind. They really were more of an advertising gimmick.

Thats a tough one. a windtunnel with a fresh belt is probably on par with a concept, but a concept doesn't need a fresh belt to beat a windtunnel. I do like that the windtunnel has a hose, but its short and springy and nearly useless at that. I dont like the snap-on pull-off bag door either. The windtunnel is also a machine I get annoyed with hearing rather quickly, but I would never tire of a concept.
The dirt sensor is a little eye that senses when something, small or large, is picked up; its like a motion sensor. but obviously with the eye being in the dirt path, it is subject to getting caked with dirt/dust and yherefore being irratic in their reading. Personally, there isnt that much dirt in anyones carpet that a windtunnel couldnt pick up in a couple passes, yet the sensors always claim otherwise...

I used to have a Concept 1 Power Drive (the power drive switch cover thing popped off and I lost it, but I could still turn it on and off by sticking something in there to move the actual switch part ) which I liked quite a bit. I've also had the older (1990s-early 2000s, I think) Supreme and I also had a newer Supreme somewhat recently which was fine, but the windtunnel part in the base seemed to accumulate a lot of dirt that sticks onto the sides of it.
I prefer the Concept.

Concept still gets my vote, albeit a very biased vote having grown up around almost nothing but Concepts.

A "dirty" air upright will always deep clean a rug better than a clean air upright because they have more airflow, they have less sealed suction than a "clean" air upright but for deep cleaning you cant get a better cleaning machine. The Windtunnel is a fine vacuum, but as far as carpet cleaning and grooming goes the Concept series has it beat, actually after over 35 years in the floor care business I found the best cleaning upright is a Hoover Commercial Soft Guard, Model C1702-900, I use one in my home, it is an Elite on steroids, deep heavy lines in the rug, nothing cleans deeper.

I have to question the idea of Convertible. I do not have one but I do have a perfect Decade 80 with same fan arrangement and Concept whoops it's butt every time.
