Does anyone know how to decipher the various Hoover color codes found in the parts lists for example: ABB, MR, WW, AG, KT, AAP etc. Thanks.

Such a shame that companies don't do this anymore.
Back in the '60s and '70s, we had much more COLOR in the world, in everything from our vacuums to our clothes to our cars.
Everything for the past 20 or so years has been black, white, grey, and/or some muted blue or burgundy (rarely *RED*).
Look at street photos from the '50s and '60s and you see a veritable rainbow of car colors: PINK ... COPPER ... ORANGE ... AQUA ... GREEN.
Today, cars come in black, white, and eight shades of grey and beige. PFFFBBBBTT!!!
And our dearth of color extends into all aspects of our lives.
As for vacuums ... regardless of make or model, can you honestly imagine any manufacturer offering a vacuum with the bright colors and patterns that the Hoovers once offered?

There are also quite a few colors that were exclusive to certain "big box" retailers, for I see in the list such names as "Penney Blue" and "Sears Avocado."
I don't know if "Regina White" has anything to do with the competing vacuum manufacturer or if it has to do with the capital city of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada.

I was thinking that Hoover had a different color for each year or period, but as I attempted to assemble the following list from various Vacuumland threads that doesn't seem to be the case--at least not all the time.

Hoover colors
Ronni,
Great work on the above chart.Hoover has to get the prize for most and best colors.Eureka had some vacs that were at least as good and some great colors but very limited compared to Hoover.One addition near the beginning--
-The Convertible Special Mo 31 also had a later version that had green hood & bumper,white base,etc.
And then as they go to 3 & 4 digit mo nos more colors than the deluxe Crayolas with the sharpener in the bottom!

I do want to set the record straight, however, that I was not the originator of the lists. I just collected the information from the following who did the legwork: Phillip Muller, Tom "myhooverco", Ben Edge and Ray Carter. I should have mentioned that before. I had just taken the lists, simplified them (the originals had specific details), put them in the same format, and tried to figure out years of production by color.
I've observed that Eureka uprights are similar to the Hoover ones but am not as familiar with its array of machine colors ... I agree that it would be hard for any company to beat Hoover's.
