This baby gives. whole new meaning to the term "minty". The hose is mint! That was a surprise. I found new micro replacement dust bags online, nice! I need the hub caps for the dark green wheels which are missing. Same type of hub cap as my Concept has i think.

Congrats!
That is certainly a machine that will make everyone green with envy! I had one just like this, but it was missing everything including the hose and power nozzle. I wish I had a complete one though. Its always good to see something different.

That's a gorgeous machine!! I love the look of those Celebrity's. The logo on the Quadraflex Powermatic looks terrific on these. Great sounding machine and very powerful.

I have had that machine since I was 19! It is very powerful! I got 2 of the attachments with mine, I think the bare floor tool and the crevice tool... it's not the most durable thing in the world, but it is powerful and beautiful. When I got mine, the cord winder didn't work, and the plastic nub on the bare floor tool broke off and the side of the power nozzle where the brushroll end cap seats broke off and I was very gentle with it... it was just old and brittle. I've fixed all of that and I enjoy using it. I hope you have fun with yours. I do wish it had a geared belt!

Rob, since you're kind of an expert on these machines, for the last few years, every time I vacuum with this machine, it blows chunks of foam like insulation out all over the place through the exhaust vents... I have to keep vacuuming again with another machine to get it all up because if I kept going with that one, it would ever stop! What could that be from and is it something I should consider fixing? I'm sick of it "blowing chunks" and I don't use it anymore because of that. I thought that eventually it would all blow out and that would be the end of it, but it just hasn't stopped! I'm thinking it's either sound insulation (which would make sense because the thing is not quiet despite it being called the quiet series), or the internal filter that wrapped around the motor that maybe deteriorated and got sucked through?

I love Hoover Celebrities! The mint green one is such a pretty machine.
Bobby -- The chunks of foam you see the machine spitting out is common. There's a sound muffler that sits below the motor. Over time they dry out and disintegrate. It's a very easy to fix -- just remove the plastic motor cover from inside the bag chamber (3 screws, if I recall correctly), then there should be 4 "acorn" shaped nuts below that. Remove those nuts, and the bottom panel of the machine to which the wheels are attached will come off. You may need to work at it a bit to remove the panel. You can then remove the muffler. A new muffler can be easily fabricated. I've swiped the piece of foam that comes wrapped around new laser printer toner cartridge, from places I've worked, after we've replaced the toner and cut it to fit, using the old muffler as a template. I would imagine you could find sheets of foam at a hardware or fabric store. It just needs to be porous enough to let air flow through it so the motor doesn't overheat. I probably wouldn't use something as thick as felt. THe machine goes back together just as easy as it came apart, just don't over tighten the nuts when you put it back together. Hope that helps!

As I sit here thinking about it, you may not even need to remove the white motor cover at all. The "acorn" nuts may be visible by just removing the bag. I don't have a Celebrity handy at the moment to confirm that, however.

Fred, also you can go to Wal-Mart in the hardware aisle and get some of the Duck Brand air conditioner foam for a buck a sheet.

To clarify what i meant about the hose, it is mint colored...the condition is also very good but how cool is that color on a hose? Makes me wonder what other colors these came in.

Fred is absolutely correct about the sound insulation. I have replaced this on a few machines. I tried Lowe's and Ace Hardware and they recommended me to Joann Fabric. I was shocked but at Joann fabric you can foam by size. I bought about 1 yard of green approx. 3/4" thick breathable foam. I have replaced the foam insulation on 4 Celebrity's now with that same piece, so you don't even need a full yard, you would do fine with ordering about a half yard. It's only a couple of dollars then just cut it approximately to size and fit in. I think I stuck it through the metal posts for the screws. I didn't use any glue or any sort of adhesive, the foam is thick enough to hold in place just where the layout in the metal bottom plate is for it. Very simple repair that will take you 10 minutes most likely, then you won't be chasing any more dust around your home!!

Thanks Fred and Robert... such an infuriating problem to have because the very machine that is supposed to be cleaning the floor is making it dirtier than it started! I will definitely take your advice when I'm ready to tackle fixing this...
