I went three towns up, to Vero Beach to go a junking, but felt so out of it, I almost came home. I continued anyway, to the Humane Society Thrift Store on route 60. I was hoping something festive would show itself, and within three minutes of entering the store, this was discovered hiding on the bottom shelf of barely attractive household goods. It needs all of its tools and the wands, a disappointing trip to the last remaining old vacuum shop in Fort Pierce netted nothing. The owner throws out all of the old pieces. In Vero, in Saint Vincent De Paul, they had a caramel colored Eureka canister with a powerhead half the size of the vacuum, a Kirby Heritage with tools, and a Riccar Commercial upright. The two tone blue Hoover really did it for me.

That's a fine looking celebrity! You might want to tell the lady who runs the vacuum shop that rather than throwing out the attachments she gets in, you will be more than happy to take them off her hands.

Mr. Mc Nee is the owner of the only old vacuum business left in Fort Pierce, and the business isn't even in its original shop. He has to be at least 90, he was the one I spoke to. I may try Vero again, they had one place that seemed to have old parts, but that was before our three crippling hurricanes. Fort Pierce is proud of being an old town, but the old buildings and businesses are being flattened at breakneck speed.

Hi Alan I havent heard from you in a while. How are things going? Have you had a chance to enjoy that Kirby Dual 80 I hope so it really is a keeper. i no what you mean about finding vacuums Here on Long Island their are no places to find vacuums.Saturday during my morning walk i came across at a church yard sale a Hoover upright power max looks like a concept one or two. Any way all it needed was a belt it also has power drive. When i asked the lady what she wanted she said make me a offer, i said thats ok just give me a price she said ok 3.00 I went to get a belt another 3.00 total of 6.00 bucks not bad. Well take care talk to you soon Doug

Hi Doug, really good to hear from you! That Kirby of mine is in plain sight, and not going anywhere. At the moment it is awaiting a good workout, it may get one today. Your Hoover was a steal, we had a Concept 1 I believe, Mom wanted a new Eureka upright in the late '80s and the Hoover went bye-bye. I still have the Eureka. Take care too, catch you around-Alan

The Good old Hoovers

Hi Pete You are so RIGHT as far as last quality goes. It works like a charm. The POWER DRIVE is as smooth as can be plus it picks up very well. It is a dark red. Doug

What kind of wands are appropriate to this?

This is a model S3187-030. I need wands, I can probably get them locally. I've been told they are metal, but are they the chrome plated steel, or satin finish aluminum? I'm not even sure this is the correct year forum, this may be newer than 1980.
