I love Hoover 61, 62 and 63. My 63 has a matching baby blue tool set. Was this the first model to have a similarly matching tool set? Inquiring minds want to know!

the 28 had a tool set in brown, other older models, ( remember the "ensemble in brown"?had them too. Ultraflex was whitish, tufflex was white, cream, dark brown. Can you imagine all those crazy colors in matching attachments? WILD !!

I think your right. The blue tool set was the first one colored to match the machine. Also the first to switch over from the old tool style to the new one with the button connection that lasted for years. Old style tools:

Thank you Fred! When I was little--and I mean little-- we went to a family friend about 4 blocks away from time to time--I think there was an informal babysitting exchange. They had a 63 with a blue attachment set with the now famous button connection and a curved wand handle. The new style floor brush and well, all new style tools. Deeper blue in color than the set I have, ultraflex hose as well. She kept them on a hanger in the laundry room. I stared at them for hours! I rarley got to vacuum in that house!

Well the first vacuum I remember in our home was a Model 62 with attachments. I remember when my parents bought it brand new. It is one of my earliest memories. We had the box etc. for the attachments for a long time till it wore out. And the vacuum we had till about 1965 when we got a Model 69 convertible. Our neighbor had a Hoover Model 28. My grandmother had a Model 61 with the brown attachments; one of my aunts had a Model 63 with the blue attachments and another neighbor had a Citation 64 with the new, cream colord attachments.
Anyway, I think the color coordination of the attachments began with the machines made in the 40's. They were brown and the attachments were brown and they matched. It seems that the Model 62 was the transition machine. The dominant color was blue; but the base and the handle grip were tan/sandlewood color. So that made the attachments at least coordinate. My hunch is they had a lot of brown attachments around and needed to use them up; but they wanted to introduce the new colors (Model 62 - Blue; Model 29 -red). So they made these first bright color machines with a base to coordinate with the remaining brown attachments. The veriflex hose was a kind of multi color tan. With the Model 63 the base was changed to blue/gray and it had no handle grip. Thus the new blue attachment set.
