I'd think I would like to bid on this as a daily driver, but aren't these really loud?

Hoover Anniversary Upright

It is my machine and it it VERY loud. It is also VERY VERY aggressive if you have carpets of any value it would not be a good choice. It does have very strong suction.
No better or no worse than any other made in China throw away upright big box vacuum.

We have the power drive version of the anniversary machine for our daily driver and it is a beast, yes, it is a little loud, but it really pulls the nap up on our carpet, really makes them looked grooms, does a better deep cleaning job than our VacuFlo 760 central vacuum. Also, I believe the machine he has for sale was one of the last American versions, you can tell by the silver hub caps on the rear wheels, I know thats how it was on the power drive models, I have one with the silver hub caps and it was made in America, a few months later I sold it and ordered a new one, when the new one came it no longer had the silver hub caps, it was made in China, had a wooden agitator instead of the original Hoover type plastic agitator and the motor was even louder, if I knew I would be getting a machine made from China, I never would have sold the first one.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll pass on this one, I can't stand loud vacuums and a lot of my rugs are wool so I would hate to see them damaged. I'm looking to replace my Kenmore progressive with a similarly featured machine and the price sure was right on this hoover

Hoover Anniversary Upright

Jim,
Just being honest. I would NEVER use this machine on a high quality carpet.
This is not the same as the older Hoovers with the smooth metal beater bars and soft horse hair brushes.
I would go with an older Hoover or an Electrolux. So many of these new plastic uprights DO clean fast and they DO really fluff the nap but sometimes the fastest
results are not the best in the long run.
I have had damaged carpets by both this type of machine and the other now popular bagless brand machine.
