They do a pretty decent job for a cordless.
What did it go down to on your particle test Alex? There's no HEPA filter with these vacs.

@vacfan1982 It's in the 100-200k range .
I did a video comparing modern lithium ion cordless vacuums. I had the a no go in the mix which upset Tacony . Which is why I had to remove that video from YouTube.

Thanks Alex. I do like the look of the Riccar cordless but sadly not available in the UK.
I wish Sebo would consider introducing a cordless vac. I've gone off bagless vacs. Too messy for me!

Cordless vacuum-I have the Simplicity Freedom cordless upright-it has a HUGE Filtrete bag-no messy bins or filters to deal with.I haven't done a particle meter test on mine. The battery on the Simplicity is fixed-it will run the machine for an hour.I have an MD freestanding 15A central vacuum with the HyperFlow Filtrete bag.Right now using it with the TruSeal Filtrete closed bag.The HyperFlow has better filtration-the TruSeal is easier to replace. The TruSeal holds 8 gal-the HyperFlow up to 12.At the vac shop here they got a central vac call involving the MD machine--no suction-turned out the HyperFlow bag was STUFFED with 60lbs of dirt!Replaced the bag and it was fine. The customer didn't know when the bag was replaced-he moved into the house. He used it until the machine no longer worked.I have used my central unit or my NSS M1 to slurp out baglees machines I have.My M1 has a disposable bag in the outer cloth one.

Hi Rex I I stalled an MD Central Vac last year. I'm loving it.The true seal bag is not available in the UK yet I have the open bag. Hopefully it will be available soon.

VacFan-Glad you like your MD central vacuum-they are the best ones-mine isn't really "installed"use it freestanding with the 35' hose plugged into the utility inlet.Works as a SUPER POWERFUL canister vacuum.Gret for using with various powernozzles.

md central vacuums and cordless vacs

I have the flomaster m85, I have not changed to the closed bags, I don't mind changing the open bags and I would think the open bags would provide better airflow. I use all of my central vacuum units free standing, connecting a hose directly to one of those is awesome. I think the freedom cordless is also what the volt nozzle is based on. Tacony just removed the bag and installed a connection for a hose to go in to. Tacony has also recently introduced a cordless vacuum called the roam, it has an interesting spinning brush on it, similar to the CT10 power nozzle, it's a softer brush so it can be used on hard floors.

for my Silentmaster I have both the open top HyperFlow bags or the TruSeal closed bag-as far as airflow goes-don't notice much of a difference. The HyperFlow bags can hold more stuff-and filter slightly better. My Silentmaster is my favorite central vacuum.Have it freestanding in my central hallway.

my favorite central vacuum units

I have 8 of them throughout my apartment and I use them all free standing. My flomaster uses 8 gallon bags where as the silent master uses 12 gallon bags I think, it also uses a flow through motor rather than a bi-pass motor, I know there is a lot of debate on whether the bi-pass motor is better, the flow through motors can be just as powerful though.
I have several favorite central vacuum units for different reasons. My Purvac Barracuda is very quiet but very powerful, 151 water lift and I think about 144 CFM. My Vacumaid sr800 uses the Ametek 8.4 inch double fan bi-pass motor, this is the most powerful motor that Ametek offers for 120 volts. I'm also really fond of my Vacumaid garage vac pro, it uses a 5.7 double fan flow through motor, 138 water lift and 138 CFM. It is designed to give you the power of a central vacuum without pipes, rather than a pipe in-take, there is a hose in-let right on the unit. And then there's the Drainvac Atomik, it's so small that it can set on a counter but it has 125 water lift and I think around 140 CFM. It comes with a utility valve screwed on to the in-take making it very portable since it has a handle on the top for carrying, but you can easily remove the utility valve and attach a pipe if desired. Very awesome machines for sure. I wish my apartment had a 220 volt outlet, there are some two motor machines that I would love to have. There are some two motor units that use 120 volts but I've read that those do not work very well since the motors are rather small.

@alexhoovers94 yes I rather like the Hoover's that used to be vax products.
Or is my friend calls them "Ten Tong Industries"

@n0oxy @tolivac let's start a separate thread and brag about our Central Vacuums. As we all know they're my favorite kind of vacuum!

@tolivac I rather like the S10cv and the R10cv! They're great cordless vacuums!
But I doubt Tacony would be sending me sample Vacuums anytime soon Lol .
As we all know I'm their favorite customer.

central vacuums

I'm not opposed to starting a thread about our central vac units, I love mine. Since I don't like uprights and much prefer to clean with any kind of canister, using a central vacuum is awesome. And connecting the hose directly to a unit without pipes makes it even better, no pipes to restrict air flow.

Rex how do you connect your central vac hose to the Kirby? Did you make an adapter?
Does sound like an amazing combo!

Yes,used an adaptor made from a piece of 1.25" vacuum hose to the Kirby hose-you put the Kirby hose on the fan output where you would put the bag.My "adaptor" was free got a scrap of hose from the vac shop. Its about 6" long.

That's a very good idea. I'd like to try that.😁
One question. When Riccar designed the Tandem Air cleaners I think they had to balance the air flow between the direct air motor and the clean air motor. I wonder how well this works with the Kirby and Central vac?

When I tgried the Kirby on the MD Silentmaster-it did work well-picked up anything in the path-esp if you put a new bag in the MD-it was covered in fine dust and dirt, and the debris I picked up.It would seem the CFM of the two machines are close to each other. The MD would have more suction "pressure" if you want to put it that way-it has a dual fan suction system. The MD motor if full bypass-the motor itself has its own cooling fan.Doesn't rely on the cleaning airstream for cooling the motor. The Kiurby motor like all direct air uprights has its own cooling fan, too. When I do the Kirby -MD setup have to connect the machines to separate 120V circuits.
