So, after my 3-month hiatus to focus on things like other hobbies and school, ive returned to vacuums. And, to kick it off, I made this amazing find. You probably all know how long Ive been looking for a coffee can, and so now I an scratch it off my list.
I got it when I went to a little Kirby store, (the same one as I got my Electrolux Epic 6000), and I asked him if he had anything new. He said, "Well, i have this old guy," and pulled it out from the "vacuum graveyard" as I like to call it. He said that a little old lady brought it in, and she was looking for a new vacuum because she had been using this thing since 1936..! He named his price ($30) and I snatched it right up. I cleaned it up, and the only before pics I have are on my phone, so I cant upload them to the site until I put them over to my PC. But, I do have after pics.

It runs absolutely great, cleans just as well as the newest Dyson. (Which wont be surprising to many of us!)
The only problem I see is the bag isnt original and neither is the cord. The bag isnt that big of a deal, because at leat its a genuine hoover part, not one of those atrocious bags that says "VACUUM CLEANER" down the front.

Nice 825, Sam, And Welcome Back!

Great find, and nice job on the cleanup! Looking forward to seeing the before pics. And not only is your bag genuine Hoover, but it is the original bag for the model 26 or 28.
The 825 is one of my favorite coffee cans! I have one too, all original except for the bag, but it is also genuine Hoover.

Hoover 825

This is a wonderful machine - it's craftsmanship, engineering and quality of construction put it very near the top of the list of the very best that Hoover produced before WWII...congratulations!

Thanks all, I hope to get this thing looking brand new! I was nearly crapping my pants when I first found it....

Hoover 825

I have one of those too, my favorite thing about it is when you turn it on it has a little red hoover sign on the headlight that lights up. I think mine was rebuilt at the Hoover factory because it says that it is a Hoover Special.... Dan

Nice!

Very nice 825. This is what the original bag looked like. Henry Dreyfuss designed the eye to flow "up the ladder" from the bottom of the bag to the top.[this post was last edited: 4/15/2013-13:45]
