hoover 800

is it ok to run my 800 on low speed or does it matter?

It was built to run on Lo speed. The Godfather of Vacuum Collecting, and my dear friend, Stan Kann always said Hi speed was too much. He ran his Hoovers on Lo most of the time if they had the option. Nice machine that 800. One of Hoover's best.

The owners manual tells you

"Connect plug with lamp or baseboard socket. See that the current is turned on. Since a lower speed and suction are at times desirable, especially for cleaning flexible, small and light weight rugs, The Hoover is provided with two cleaning speeds. Start the motor by pushing the switch forward. The first or central position of the switch puts the motor in high speed. For low speed push the switch forward as far as it will go."

@dysonman1 if I had shag carpet for example which I personally loved especially the model 750 but the 800 as well, is high speed still too much for them?
