The quite common "Rare" 700

There are several "Rare" Hoover 700's on Ebay right now.
True, the one you found is in your home state, and maybe
within driving range. As opposed to paying shipping on
an out-state model. Plus, you could actually "test-drive"
it, and tell if the motor bearings and brushes were good.
 
How ironic that the Hoover 700 cost $75 when new in 1926. The hardest thing to come by for the restoration are brush strips, cloth bag, and proper cord and plug (we are talking original parts, and not later 'bojack' parts).

They sold 3/4 of a million of that model during three years time, so obtaining the correct parts from donor machines isn't too much of a trick.
