Hi all
I would imagine a lot of you are faced with the same problem as me regarding worn out brushroll brushes .well desperate measures forced me into doing some experimenting .hear is what i came up with .I have quite a few brand new brushes for Hoover Senior 652 and the smaller junior .I also have lots of worn out ones [i keep everything]I decided to experiment with the worn out ones before mutilating a new one .First i cut the side strips off then i cut the strip to the right length .the thing was still a little too thick so i sanded each side till i was able to force the plastic strip into the slot where the old alloy ones were .Its a little fiddly but it works and if they are a tight fit they wont come out when the machine is running .One thing i did find was that they are a Bxxxger to get back out .The machine sweeps really well with its bodged brushes leaving those nice stripes on the carpet [i have to adjust the height control a good way up .This machine belonged to my Grandma .I have had it for the last 35 years [Can anyone tell me how old it is ] I was once told the story of how my grandparent came by the machine .story goes back to the last war where my grandparents were walking home from the pub one evening .`there had recently been an air raid and as they past the local cinema they could see that it had been hit .there was a large hole in one side of the building .As they got closer they could see right into the foyer of the building where most of the damage was .The hoover was standing in a cupboard that no longer had a door so my grandad [worse the wear for drink] decided to take it .Grandma told me that for months after she was terrified when someone knocked on the door just in case it was the police she said .i wouldnt care but we only had one carpet. She used the Hoover right up to her death in 1985
