I think it's old?
60's...

cool

Well any baby to bath
& it has a bag

Bag says heavy duty multi filter

looks like inner bag broke so bag is full of dust

It runs nice & light works!!!

Well off to clean

Sweet find! The base looks like new which is amazing. It seems like most get beat up and look like a mess but yours is in great shape. Even the underside looks to be in great shape. Have fun with it.

Congrats on your Hoover find. These machines (I call them the "60 series") are built like tanks. They were built from 1953 to 1956 and Hoover made TONS of them. There are plenty out there still working faithfully in homes across the country. Yours seems to have led a well cared for life. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Cleaned it up

blew air into it to blow out dust from inside
now it won't work
just hums?
something might have gooten caught or loose?

arrgh
it ran so nice in the store

the bag was not attcahed & someone ran it long thr bag was filled w crud but that shouldn't have really hurt the motor

any tips? as I have to see why its not running

hum to me thats something caught in motor stopping it
well it did in my power nozzle

arrrgh

i'll see what I can find

darnm

Turn the motor by hand and see if its stuck. You may have blown a rock or some dirt somewhere and it messed something up.

Thanks!

for the history & esp the help in getting it running again
I get in full vac mode & loose my sense of courtesy until the dust clears

Boy it was dirty!!!
I blew clouds of dust out from roller & maybe motor area

yuck

I eant to get that roller out & shine it
try to open hood & wipe

bag is in the tub
its a dvc replacement uses fn g bags
but it works

Good ole mnachine
never would have guessed 50's...more like 60's
but I knew it was old as it has the qaulity you don't see these days

Here she is running with light

cool!

OOOH it was $10

I said I'd take it

LOL

Had to carry it & go home by bus

I carried it so not to gouge wheels

It got the royal treatment
like a big baby!

bet I gave a few people some laughs
not everyday you see a 5' woman carrying a 4 1/2 foot vac down the street

LOL

I guess your collection is really growing! The $10 is a very good deal for a quality Hoover in good condition.

I'd love to know how these machines clean. I have 4 Hoover uprights and the newest one was built in the early 1930s so I have little experience with the later models.

Anyway, it looks like you have a fairly easy restoration project. Have fun with it.

Oh, and don't forget to put a new belt on it if you haven't done so already. An agressive brush roll like your Hoover has combined with a worn belt makes for poor performance.

cleans good as this ole carpet needs a beating
lol

belt is all cracked & hardly makes contact its all stretched

got to get belt!
look into a nice bag too

bet it will clean even better w a good belt

nice machine
someone used this one for 40 years
had it serviced in 2003 in hollywood

Wasn't looking for a hoover

My eye was on a Royal china 2002 dirt devil steamer cleaner.
This ia a Jewish Thrift store & I donlt ask about vacs or things too much as they want $25 & up for things.

Really didn't want to pay that for the Dirt Devil.
Saw this guy standing next to it
Didn't look all that good you know old & when you opened the zipper it was full of muck.

But I looked at the bottom & it looked bit different
nice alum plate under there
saw the beats as it sweeps but didn't even know that was an really old vac
saw dates of 2003 repair so figured its been maintained

Just the big wheels & metal got me interested

So plugged it in & it sounded sweet...
picked up from the carpet
had all the parts.
so sheepishly wheeled it over trying to act casual about the dirty vac who at this time the bag had fallen off & was a mess so went w parts to the counter

it was closing time & they wanted to go home so she said $10

So I got it $10.83 with tax...

pout the bag in a bag
wrapped the base in a bag & carried it out

LOL

I knew it was something special but never in my wildest dreams thought 50's

I figured 60's

Wasn't even going to go up there
but I missed a bus to trader joes by 30 seconds so decided to take the bus the long way around & just thought

hmmm take a quick peek in the Salvation Army
stopped in this place first

Yep, guess that's karma
walking home taking the bus with a heavy vac

It;s not light but I was happy with my find & figured for $10
I couldn't go too wrong...

LOL

Need a belt

Would like to find a better bag too

but its all clean now
bag is dry & looks ok

Works pretty darn good too!

CA vac serviced by Hollywood Vacs...

Maybe it's cleaned dirt from the rich & famous...

LOL

OOOH they had a Metro steel hand data vac.
w attacs in box

odd thing
USA made NY

Could have also been old but didn't sound all that nice & didn't suck that great

Yeah nice to find a old vac in good shape...
she has some scuffs & scraps but all in all shes solid

Darn I'm bit by the vac bug...

Here she is taking in some CA sun...
