There is nothing wrong with your 62, this is actually a common problem with all Hoover uprights with the hose connection on the side, due to the fact that the hose connection is not completely sealed--you are also drawing air through the nozzle. With the earlier "coffee can" models, the bottom plate and belt were removed and the hose connector was connected directly to the fan housing, but when the side connect models were designed, suction power was sacrificed to make hose connection easier for the user.
Attachment suction was improved a little with the Convertible as it kicked up the wattage of the motor when the converter was plugged in. However, it was still not completely sealed, until the front connecting "suction seal" converter became available with the later convertibles. Hope this information is helpful.

Another problem with these is the very narrow, small opening on the converter-remember uprights work on AIRFOW-not suction-so the airflow is choked by the converter.Think of a Kirby with a small opening converter for its hose!

Try this...

put the handle down;like your going to use it and make sure the converter is push in all the way.Press down on the back of the hood area by the handle and push the converter in all the way.Try it.Mike Rogers, said, puting the handle down makes the air flow to the bag better.Let me know it it works.
